Just wondering if anyone has tried cleaning their laptop/computer with a Shamwow or other German-made cleaning cloths.

I purchased a set off of eBay, and an interested in trying it out on my laptop. According to SHAMWOW's website they do NOT scratch ANY surface.

    :D

Hi it's vince from shamwow, you'll be saying wow everytime.
    It's like a shammy, it's like a towel, it's like a sponge.
A regular towel doesn't work wet, this works wet or dry.
    This is for the house
    The Car
    The Boat
    The RV
Shamwow holds 20 times it's weight in liquid, look at this, it just does the work.
Why do you want to work twice as hard? It doesn't drip, doesn't make a mess, ring it out.
You wash it in the washing machine. Made in Germany, you know the germans always make good stuff.
You can cut it in half, use one as a bathmat, drain your dishes with the other one, use one as a towel.
Olympic divers, they use it as a towel- look at that, completely dry.
Put a wet seater roll it up it dries your sweaters.
Here's some cola, wine, coffee, cola, pet stains.
Not only is your damage going to be on top, there's your mildew.
That is gonna smell, see that.
Now we're gonna do this in real time, look at this, put it on the spill, turn it over without putting any pressure, 50% of the cola...right there you following me camera guy?
The other 50% the color starts to come up no other towels' gonna do that.
It acts like a vacuum, and look at this virtually dry on the bottom.
See what i'm telling ya Shamwow you'll be saying wow everytime.

I can't live without it, i just love it!
Oh my gosh i don't even buy paper towels anymore.
If you're gonna wash your cars or any other vehicle, you'll be out of your mind not to own one of these.
All i can say is SHAM! WOW!

You're gonna spend twenty dollars every month on paper towels anyway you're throwin away your money.
The mini shamwows are for everything, for everyday use.
This last tens years, this last a week, i don't know it sells itself.
The shamwow sells for 19.95 you get one for the house, one for the car, two for the kitchen and bathroom.
But if you call now, within the next twenty minutes cause we can't do this all day, we'll give you a second set absolutely free. So that's 8 shamwows for 19.95. it comes with a ten year warrenty, here's how to order.

Well you could try it but I wouldnt really reccommend something that wasnt made for computers, it probably won't scratch it but it might not work or not do much at all since it was made for liquids

I use the soft silky pouch thing that came with my sunglasses to clean the dust off my LCD, but dont use solvents or detergents! a little damp with water if it's absolutely impossible to clean otherwise

for the touchpad and keys, something similarly soft using 50/50 mixture of water and 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol (DONT USE THIS on your screen)

for the rest, like the casing, any 100% clean cotton cloth should be fine

and of course, it's good to flush out the vents and heatsinks and in between keys with quick bursts of compressed air or gas (a little good quality compressed air generator isn't a bad investment, serves a lot of functions and saves u money in the long run)

haha... shamwow... do you guys know he went to prison for beating up a hooker who bit down on his tongue and wouldn't let go? the mug shots are hilarious

I have had streaking problems when I try and clean my screen with an appropriately soft cloth. Especially when I have had to use water. What am I doing wrong?

Try a microfiber cloth and half distilled water/half white vinegar. Avoid ethanol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid, or methyl chloride.

I'm sorry, but no one should recommend anything stronger than mild soap--and that's only when necessary--anything stronger could damage delicate surfaces. That include diluted alcohol, since there are too many different types of laptop materials and coatings for that to be universally recommended. Alcohol can remover many paints and appliques.

I use good old fashioned soft paper towel and very mild soap and water. I find Bounty with it's soft quilted weave works best, so it doesn't deteriorate and leave particles. Another dry piece right after for a good buffing and you get a nice glossy shine.

Get a microfiber cloth and use as little water as needed. The ShamWow is not a polishing cloth. It also has coarse threading and leaves lint. If you catch a piece of dirt in it, it has nowhere to hide in the cloth and will scratch the surface you are wiping.
