As you can see, it's a Vostro 1500
Hand drawn using a "Uni POSCA" pen - it's like a white paint pen but it only comes off if you scratch it really hard. I've also got a white permanent pen that doesn't come off whatever you do, but haven't used it on this.
It's unfinished, as I'm also going to be doing the frame of the screen and the back! I don't think I will be doing the sides or the underside. I'll post them when they're done!

Thought I might as well add it here to the library of lil modifications that go on!

davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
looks fun. i would have drawed somehow with edges to the keyboard and such, so that it looks more like it is "made for the notebook" and not just arbitarily on the surface. but it's a nice idea and looks sweet.
-
wow it looks fantastic
I hope you post some pictures when it's completely finished -
Looks great! I would do something on the keyboard as well, although I'm not sure how easy it is.
-
Awesome. Looking forward to the finished job~
-
Looks fantastic. Maybe I should send you my Vostro 1500 and have you liven it up.
-
Thanks guys! I'll probably finish it tonight. It's all freestyling too, so none of it is planned with a pencil or anything lol!
-
That is really awesome; could not resist posting a comment.
-
Judging from the wear and tear I've inflicted on my keyboards, I think you made a wise choice
Looks really, really cool!
-
For *pen* work...that's a very pretty sleek job!!!
Kudos!! I likey

Great penmanship, you might want to use clear vinyl (like invisible shield) to protect the design.
-
As flipfire said, use some sort of clearcoat-type material to protect that beautiful penmanship!
-
Thanks peeps! Maybe I might actually, that clearcoat thing is a really good idea. Any suggestions for cheap solutions??
-
Actually, I think Flipfire's idea was even better than mine - I was thinking about a sprayable clearcoat - but I think he was thinking about the Invisible Shield product available from Zagg. They even have a kit specifically for the .Vostro .1500, here. That would definitely be worth a look since it doesn't involve spraying stuff onto your laptop.
-
I wonder if dell would hire someone like you who is artistic and could make custom designs on laptops...
-
Wow, that is awesome!
-
Thanks for the link! $32 isn't bad, definitely gonna give that a good thought! Also I guess Dell could do as the Mike Ming stuff was so cool - my housemate has the red swirls one and it's amazing!
-
And many thanks for the kind words people! I'm trying from it now and I'm very tempted to finish it off haha.
-
Please finish it now. I'm really excited to see the finished product.
-
so... PRO!
-
Your a good artist!!
-
Very impressive.....nice job
-
You are amazing! Have you ever thought of doing this for money??
-
Wow, I'm sure you could make a bit of cash out of that skill
Great work, +1 -
yep... incredible.. gives me inspiration for my linux powered Latitude... Since my laptop is grey instead of black, I could use different colors...I just don't know what design I want to go with.. I might even do something with the keyboard, because for some weird reason, I like the "worn down" look of old computer stuff... but I wouldn't want to cover up the letters and symbols on the keys, so I don't know....
Oh, does your trackpad still work after putting that stuff on it? -
looks great! good luck with the rest of the project.
-
Did you finish it yet? We would all love to see some pictures
-
Many thanks for the ongoing support guys, really great and inspiring to know that people love the design
Also, a lot of extensive use has made a lot of the parts around the palmrests come off but I expected that since it was a simple try without any coating/protection.
-
great work man. have u thought about clearin it?
-
Congrats, that laptop looks fantastic.
-
wow man the top of looks sick !!!!
-
looks very nice
-
really put some time on that project huh. im finishing mine soon with those same markers and airbrushing it as well...... always nice to see other artists at work im a graffiti artist so i appreciate all sorts of art.....
-
If I could only have half your talent. Good job!
-
i want to get my hands on the thin tip pens as at the moment I was using the fat marker and had no idea they had thinner tips -

Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Dell should have hired you in their laptop designs!
-
That's excellent freehand work! When you are finished, look into some type of clear coat. I would experiment with a discarded piece of plastic first to test if the white paint will not run. If you don't clear coat, the white paint will darken from being touched over time. Still, that's a good job you've done so far - keep the photo's coming!
So I drew all over my Dell Vostro...
