Props. Not only with the paintjob, but also with knowing how to use a camera properly.
-
Can you tell what steps and end coating you used to make this come out so well? This is beautiful work
-
Major props and sick finish coat, shines like no other.
-
Very nice! Now if you can get thse hires pictures up that would be great.
-
Wow that looks amazing,
I have the same Dell E1505/6400 series laptop.
Man does that thing look sweet.
You have to tell us how you did it, it looks fantastic.
How did you get paint to stick to the white bumpers?
Did you sand the rubbery finish off?
I am looking to airbrush my E1505 this summer, with a bavarian blue and some sweet black pinstripes.

Thank you all for your generous comments. Much appreciated. To answer how i achieved the finish, 2 coats of plastic primer, 4 coats of paint, 5 coats of clearcoat, a few sheets of sanding paper (600, 800, 1000 and 1500 grit), 3M Liquid Compound, 3M Liquid Polish, loads of elbow grease and heaps of patience.
The most important thing to remember is to ALWAYS use plastic primer as this creates a strong adhesive surface for your paint. If done correctly, there should be little to no chipping or flaking. In order to get that mirror finish, sanding is essential to create a flat surface. The smoother that flat surface is, the better the mirror finish will be. This rule applies throughout the process from primer to the application of clearcoat.
I'll try and upload better pics sometime later. Cheers. -
Very nice paint job.
Very bad pictures.
-
Nice paint job indeed!!
-
that was great congrats.
-
Awesome!!
That notebook looks absolutely stunning!
If you had one of the black Dell logo sticker in the middle, that would have just topped it off, no contest, match is over! -
He he.. Yeah, thanks man. Glad you liked it.If I had to change the colour of the Dell logo, I'd probably mask and spray paint it black.
-
THAT IS AMAZING!
That looks so good, makse me want to paint my Dell too!
Personally, I would leave the dell logo alone, it looks nice enough as it is.
You should start a business painting people's laptop. -
Wow, that is an amazing paint job! I am very very impressed! Do you paint for a living by chance, or are you just really good at it?
-
Its interesting to see what you can really do with paint or rather can spray paint.
-
Where are the other pics?

That looks fantastic! Way to make one of the older dodgy looking Dells look fantastic. Really great looking laptop, +rep.
-
Excellent looking job there. Your masking job is amazing. Did you dismantle all the panels?

That looks absolutely fantastic. x) The 'mirror-like' glossy finish is amazing!
If I didn't have a Black Macbook, and could run Mac on a Dell legally, I would go for something that looks like that. -
-
Thats probably the best DIY paint job on a laptop I've seen. I'm really interested in painting my laptop like that. You should do a quick guide on how to get that mirror finish.
-
If you had the time or will, starting a side-business for custom laptop jobs would bring in a nice chunk o change. I could definitely see $200+ for paint jobs easy, hell, I would pay that if my laptop did not have these pre-designed panels. This job looks way better than a colorware mac I got to see.
-
WOW!
The thing looks like a $2,000 boutique laptop now!
Congratulations, you did an excellent job! -
-
lol hes just loving all this praise we are giving him
but, nice job, that looks great -
Just out of curiosity, how does the laptop feel now? Does it feel like one of those glossy HPs?
-
Abstract paint jobs look great on notebooks as well. Textured affected paints give them a distinct, new-age look. Car paints hold up very well, and give the notebooks a strong, sleek look.
-
Man paint my computer would ya? That looks great.. Wish I could do that LOL
-
Wow..! It does have some sports car feel to it! The shine, the color, the finish! Amazing!
How long did it take? From the very first coat until it was all dry and finished? -
Around a week plus, the weather wasn't that great so had to wait for it to be dry before I spray painted.

Looks like an Acer Ferrari notebook!
-
Very, very nice. Looking forward to any more possible pictures and instructions.
Depending on your available time, I would guess you could make some extra $$ if you were to start a side business doing this.
Does your lappy seem to run faster now? -
Wow, great f'n job!
-
OMG! I like the color
-
The mirror like finish does allow the laptop to slide in and out of the backpack much faster though
-
Wow, that looks great!
-
Wow, looks pretty good. Nice job!
-
Much praise has already been given, but I've got to throw my 2 cents in as well. Awesome job on it
-
Incredible! that really does make the standard E1505 look like a top of the line laptop
-
That sure would look good with my Vette!
-
Thanks man. Very nice car..Thats a Vette C3, what year is it?

BTW, I repped you for your GREAT paint job! -
-
BTW, in the 3rd photo the silver background with holes was in focus and the notebook was fuzzy. -
brilliant work!
cheers ... -
ANOTHER brilliant work I might add.
-
Wow.
I just happened to find this post, and I'm glad I did.
I hate the look of that line of dells, but I would hands down buy one if it looked like that. EXCELLENT job. It takes more time, patience, effort, and skill than I would be willing to put out. +Rep man. Keep breaking the mold. -
Great work!! I echo the others "Brilliant!". I too will give you my single rep point I have. Awesome..thanks for the additional photos.
-
I have the same E1505, and man yours looks 1000x better.
I hate those damn white bumper things Dell put on them.
It looks really nice, I cant wait to paint my E1505 this summer.
