I get sweaty palms due to the heat and the heat produced by my laptop and there was this very long session I used where it left like permanent marks where the palms rest, I don't want this colour to get any darker so is there anyway to remove this stain or some sort of plastic covering I can buy and stick on to stop future harm to my cosmetic side of my notebook?

Try a damp (not wet... you don't want it to even drip when you sqeeze it hard) microfiber cloth and scrub at it. If that fails, try a scotch pad, move up to a brillo pad after that.

As for a cover, I believe there are vinyl applique's you can buy.

I just tried it with a scotch pad and it seemed to fade away but I think I kept going and it got darker? I'm guessing that when pressing down and removing the top layer it was then moved into the small little scratches that were made. :(
Sad now, looks even worse :(

Sorry. I should have warned you that those are made to actually scrub away something, and you should be gentle. The best bet is to evenly clean all the surface (not just where your palms were) with that scotch pad, so it's all even. Did you try it with the softer cloths first?

Yeah I did but it didn't do anything so I moved up a notch. The marks have been there for a few months now so it's probably most harder to get out then if it was just the day before or something.

for removing marks that form regularly iv found that paper or tissue works a lot better than cloth. i dunno bout the marks that have accumilated over a period of time but using paper certainly does the trick if cleaned regularly.

Try not to clean so often, abrassion is a pain in the ass for lappys... it is better to leave stains, but you know underneath the equipment is fine...

I've been trying to prevent this since day 1. I have a micro fiber cloth ready for action any time anywhere.

I ordered my system last week, and the same day I ordered online a notebook sleeve/turns into a shoulder bag from waterfielddesigns. I also ordered a few sheets of this screen protector type material. I used it on my DS earlier in the year and it is great. So what I am thinking of doing is cut out the sheet into the shape to cover the palm rests 'cause I know my sweaty hands will just corrode that paint right off.

http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/StoreFront is the place to get it if anyone is interested.

Why not use an external keyboard.

I probably will, when I'm at home. This system is supposed to be powerful enough to replace my desktop for home use but I got it mostly because for school, so it will see a lot of away time. So I will be using it at school w/o my keyboard so I want to protect the paint on it seeing as how easily Dell paintjobs come off.

I made a thread over at the Dell section over a terrible experience : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=86166

This whole thing began because of the same problem. My e1505 had a palm mark on the left side. I had tryed cleaning it and with a piece of toilet paper and a bit of alcohol it was coming of. Then all of a sudden i lift of the paper only to find that the paint came clear off. Be careful if you do send it in. I still dont have any word back from them because of there mess up and its sundaynight. Itll be a week tomorrow that they lost it and more then a week since i shipped it.

I simply do not have enough space at work, hence why I bought a small notebook in the first place.
I might just go with your idea zealot

fyi, those aren't stains. what is happening is you are wearing off the paint on the chassis. you can't remove it. you can only paint over it....or maybe put a sticker over it.
