Wow! That looks really great and to those who can't see that well or are not that bright, you can tell them that you simply painted it yourself.![]()

does look nice, where did you get it and how much did it cost?
plus any info on how hard/easy it was to install, and also a pic of the notebook open so we can see how it looks when you see the rest of the non moded area -
@ chicgeek
Very nice skinThanks for sharing.

Thanks fifa.
Annnnd I covered my ipod with the remnants today. I'm horribly matchy-matchy. -
Addendum: Apparently I missed a page of responses.
riff: With how I cut the template, it's a difficult thing to tell even sitting next to it. Got a few comments on it at Starbucks today.
Vicious: I got it at istyles. Including shipping to Canada, it came in at around $30. Pennies, really. Removable (not reusable) so I can get another if I get tired of the design.
Because I am a perfectionist with things like this (ie anal), I spent about 40 minutes measuring and cutting. I *did* need an extra pair of hands for placing the initial large sheet. Partially forgiving in placement, but will stretch if you tug too much. Bubbles surprisingly just smoothed away without having to push them out - I wonder if the skin is breathable a bit. As for the inside, no point. It's just a plain Toshiba Satellite A100 TA9 for now. Googled.
Max: Best laptop mouse ever. Couldn't ask for a better one, and thank god for thumb keys. -
Np, earlier today I was looking on iStyles myself. Some I thought were pretty nice but I'm not sure if I would want them on the back of my laptop.
-
You can also design your own at http://www.schtickers.com/.
Difference being that these ones are reusable as well. -
Man...
I have been itching to do a notebook mod but didn't have the stones to risk sacrificing my good lappy.
I picked up this little test machine the other day for $20. It's a Compaq Armada 100s. 550mhz AMD K6 CPU/192mb RAM. At this price, if I killed it, so be it...
Now I am ready to tackle my next victim!
Here we are. I didn't take a proper before picture, so I borrowed one from someone's repair log so you can get an idea of what she looked like before the mod.

Nice job. I don't usually like yellow but I have to admit it looks sweet on that Armada.
-
Yellow?
i see orange. something is wrong with your eyes my friend! -
-
haha
you win.
-
Black laser etched thinkpad found here.
-
Wow, you made that yellow/orange compaq really shine. It used to be this really ugly thinkpad looking laptop, but now it looks like a sturdy Hummer.
-
would stickers look good on a thinkpad?? I wouldnt think so since the thinkpad has a dull outer shell. Man I wish I could test out painting a thinkpad, but I dont want to risk it.
-
What risk? Go for it!
Paint just the lid to get you started. -
-
this ought to be one of them toshiba satellite series...400cdt i think or something similar :]
-
-
I am pretty sure that is a pic TK found on the internet. Not likely that the guy who modded it will see this post. But then again, never know
-
Anyway, I want to so something crerative to the laptop... kinda give it a "car" look. -

sorry man, i'd beat my kid if he ever sat with his legs crossed....
-
I cross my legs sometimes as well tho I am not as limber as I used to be. -
Darth, are there any current projects, or are you getting ready to get your MBA I believe it was.
As for sitting with your legs crossed, I don't see why it is so bad if guys do it. I do it occasionally, sometimes I do it because it drives my g/f nuts.Definitely no reason to beat your kid over the head.
-
lol well i guess if its comfy, but if he were a lil older i might say something hehe

Here is my first attempt at moding a laptop. Still need to do the finishing compound and polish it.

woW i! It 's great skill in painting !
so cool man -
There's alot of nice painting jobs in here. Just a quick questions, when paining the laptops, how you you guys stop the paint from enter/staining the monitor, buttons (keyboard & any media button), and the tiny metal cover on speakers (this part troubles me the most) without damaging it? especially the speakers, doesn't the paint enters the hole and damages it?
-
I took my whole laptop apart. Then painted the cases.

Gee... I'm late to the party!
I have a Dell XPS 1530 that I painted. How I did it is here:

Other notebooks/desktops I've painted are here:

Nice job, looks great. I painted my laptop with a Ducati theme and I did my desktop with a Ferrari theme. I actually got the paint code from my Ferrari and painted the case the same color.

Alright here is my very advanced and meticulously detailed mod it took over 10 man-minutes to complete. I really like the end result I think that it really breaks up the plain no color black theme of my T61p.

@jooooeee: you are in NAU?
