Meh, I saw the Envy 15 in store and I wasn't really all that impressed. It looks nice, but I've seen better professional looking notebooks.

That was my impression as well... Looks great on paper, but in person it's unimpressive.

The old envys were pretty flashy with the tatoos and $2000 paint jobs.

That thing is massive. Damn, space for two USB ports on top of each other, and room for two more.

It's always the eye of the beholder my dear friend. ;)

Moar. The more Hideousnesses, the meaner, the badder.

I guess the M1730 is always known for its expressive lid.

But seriously though, I think these notebooks have their own variation of "flashiness" as what we have seen in this thread. Some are the minimalists, where its sleek and tenderness of its shell and texture expresses its discrete flashiness. Some are loud and bold, like the Toshiba x305, and etc. and that doesn't mean they're at all bad. They're supposed to look demeaning against other mainstream machines, marketed as a gaming computer.

But I guess Sagers look clean-cut and shaven even though they're all mainly gaming/workstation machines.

The m1730 has too big of a Power Supply it's bulky and annoying, I use all 3 systems the Area-51 m15x , M17x-R2 and the M1730. The m1730 is also the hottest system of the 3 to the point where I've consider multiple times to turn off all lights on the m1730 in attempt to reduce the heat those GPUs are just too hot  , I'm already on my 2nd set of GPU's.

Don't ask why I still keep it around I like the layout of the keyboard and the Logitech LCD it's the last of the XPS breed/Series which I really like and already miss :( , it's hard to let go even if the alienwares seem so great, lol.

Just a little side topic, what temperatures are you getting with your 1730? Mine maxes around the 68*C in a 3 hour gaming run. There are 3 fans that cool down the system 2 for the GPUs and one for the CPU, those areas are a dust prone problem especially the heatsink. I get those cleaned every 3 months and I apply ICD7 on the GPU.

On topic, I agree the Logitech LCD gaming panel is really handy. People have always asked; hey what is that thing? It has some sort of a meter and its running left and right? LOL. Oh that! That is to monitor my CPU and RAM usage! (Well it's one of those usages anyway besides for games)

I use it to power up my 25 inch monitor and often while gaming my 8800's will reach around 80 degrees I do my best to cool them and apply Thermal compound but the GPU just gets hot I use a fan as well. Since the first 1730 broke I replaced the GPU and picked up 2 more laptops. I hope by using the other 2 laptops and using all 3 laptops and just moving around from day to day that they wont' break because of non-extensive usage, but we'll see. I love my laptops/toys. :D

It's not terribly flashy until the lights come on. :p

I submit for your consideration the Origin Eon 18.
