I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with touchpad protectors or skins and if they could tell me how they perform.

Specifically, do they decrease the sensitivity or tactile nature of the touchpad?

I wonder if I can just use an ordinary screen protector made for iphone touchscreens...

i want to get a 11.6" core 2 solo gateway, but i read the touchpad wears off and loses texture pretty quick, and the display model i looked at corroborates that claim...

my MSI wind also had the same problem and partly why i sold it to someone else, but my 2 year old vostro 1500's touchpad is fine. some manufacturers just use better materials i guess

Sometimes a plastic film can be helpful where a jumpy cursor cannot be cured any other way.

Of course, if the touchpad is already fine, then introducing a film can again change it so that the cursor does not track properly.

You could always ask to try a screen protector since many stores carry both notebooks and telephone screen protectors.
