its looks really good, and its really glossy. My only recommendation if you are getting a skin from them is to punch up reds a little before getting an image printed = P

Nothing personal but I always think its strange when somebody advertises something and they only have one post, or like less than 10.
Hope to see you around on the forums more and welcome to NBR. -
nice skin !!!!

The main reason I posted the thread is because I couldn't find any solid info about XoticPC's skin quality anywhere... sure they have pics on their site, but they are small, and you can't really see how glossy it is and how fine a resolution its printed at. So hopefully my thread will pop up when some one wants another look on ordering a skin with their computer ^_^
You prolly won't see me here too much, but if you have Actionscript 3 questions you'll prolly find me answering them on flash kit = ] ( under my old screen name deadlock32 ) -
Excellent!, I love the design, and Samus' colors go well with the M860TU's too, nice choice.
-
Nice Skin. I was wondering about buying that for a pc I might ordedr from them. But wasnt sure of how they look since like you said the pics they use are kinda small. Cool.

I recognized that image immediately. The artist, Ivan Flores, also won a Sony contest to have one of his designs on the VAIO FW series.
...looks like this company does nice print work. -
Worth getting a skin from XoticPc? I might add one on to the Sager I'm ordering soon.
-
thats a skin WoW looks like its airbrushed from the pics.....I LIKE IT A LOT!!!

Hey, if you're going to use private artwork for stuff like this at least give credit to the artist.

That guy's got nice prints. If I end up with some money I might decide to grab some, just for the heck of it.

Geez, my desktop is about to get a Metroid paint job paired with green cold cathodes to match the visor and the input devices painteed to match the arm cannon. However...that just blows away what I had in mind.
That is one of the best works I've seen, never thought about using it as a skin. It looks really good.

Dang that looks nice!

I've found some websites that offer those laptop skins for $20 including shipping. Can anyone tell me any differences between the $20 laptop skins and the skins that xoticpc offers?

Awesome skin !

I am having some issues getting my custom skin to work out for xoticpc. They say that i need a minimum 1920x1200 pixels and it needs to fit the laptop screen (mines is 14.3 inches by 10.6 inches). If I make the minimum 1920x1200 pixels, it is too large for the laptop. If I fit the picture to the laptop, then I do not meet the required 1920x1200 pixels. I emailed xoticpc sales but no word from them yet. Any information to make my custom skin meet the requirements? I am using paint because I don't have photoshop.

a screen resolution is 72dpi. what you can do is increase the dpi to 150, 300, 600dpi and then the physical dimensions would be lower. I just sent them the pic at close to the minimums and they handled the rest. I didn't really worry too much about anything else. I just told them if they needed to crop the image take it from the bottom more than the top, and left are right could be equal.
-
How do i increase the dpi?
-
hi Boknora, i know how to do it in photoshop but not sure if u can do it in paint... i think u shd be able to send them a larger pic and get them to shrink it to the size u need (as in they adjust the dpi at their end). from what i understand is different printers have different dpi settings, the higher quality ones need larger pics in order to print the same size pic becoz but the result will be finer, otherwise u'll get pixelations. am i making sense? not very good at explaining hehehe..
as for the $20 skins, i got mine from www.skinweaver.com ages ago, can't remember how much exactly, but it comes in a standard size so i had to trim it myself. DIY takes time prolly tat's y it's cheapr.. but i'm happy with the quality it still looks good so far. cheers -
thanks for the information kathyS. I actually downloaded another art program for free that allowed me to change the resolution.
-
Its awesome, i love it =)
but.. is it "painted" directed on the notebook or is it some kinda of adhesive, like the ones we buy at ebay? -
Xoticpc skins are some type of adhesive, but apparently its different compared to the other skins provided online because it wraps around the laptop edges.
-
yea thats pretty cool.. I want a starcraft skin.

Very cool skin! Another fine example of XoticPC skin. Yes, it wraps around the edges which is the reason why I wanted it. Still waiting for my 5707 to arrive with my skin... -
