Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the keyboard in Gateway P6831FX? If so where could I get a backlit keyboard like the one that comes with macbook pro?

Oh well that sucks. I don't know why more vendors don't offer that option because I frequently use my laptop in the dark and playing STALKER is ticky without being able to see the keys lol.

Would be nice if a skillful person made a DIY guide on this, would be hard though >.<

Why do you purchase one of those flexible USB notebook keyboard lights? Its by far much cheaper than buying a custom keyboard. It'll only cost you $15 (maximum).

Never head of them until now, but it sounds like it will permanently take up a USB port >.<

im sure it can be done... basically have to see the exact size of the keybord and then look around for a replacement.. or find a company that can laser cut out the letters/numbers in the keys themselves which would require removing them from the keyboard then simply running strip lighting which is super thin and sticks down under the keyboard. ive seen it done a while ago on a different toshiba but i dont remember the web site ill look around for a bit and see if i can find it.. either way its big $$ to do...

btw what i use is a small usb keyboard i bought the flexible style that glows a light blue. only really use it in the dark since its not the greatest keyboard but it works great..

I have imicro backlit keyboard. It's very good though keyboard layout is compressed, ie,delete key, backspace, space, tab, enter, right shift key Esc,f1,f2,f3....etc are smaller that standard. It has a switch for light and multimedia hotkeys. Performance wise, it feels like your standard keyboard. Overall, good enough for gaming.
