A question for the engineering/LCD experts.

My laptop shows under Intel Graphics Control Panel that the LCD is an eDP display. However, taking apart the laptop I see that the display runs off a 40 pin connector labeled "LVDS" and the LCD is a LP140WH2-TLTB, an LVDS display.

Some of the explanations I've come up with
    1) Control panel info wrong, the notebook does NOT have eDP but LVDS
    2) The notebook is running LVDS through a 40-pin eDP out (I dunno if that's possible)

    Any thoughts?

The panel is 40 pin and LVDS

eDP connectors are usually 30 pin

as far as i know, you wouldn't need a LVDS to EDP connector if it was a LVDS panel (which it is), and if such a thing existed, i would be a very happy man..

to finalize these claims, i would want to know what the laptop model/make is it to look at the HW manual to confirm it.. but it seems like it's an error in the control panel..

Lvds don't work with edp connector. Be careful, you can overheat!
