i am going to buy a D900K and i hate the black keyboard look.. has anyone come across keyboard mods or possibly a company that makes custom keyboards?? thanks

Because most notebook keyboards are different in terms of size and shape, as well as the circuitry and cables, it's really hard to customize one unless its a DIY project.

I have seen the clear protective overlay but there might be some issues with different brands and such!!

Yeah, modding a keyboard is a nearly an impossible task. Even the keys don't attach the same way. I've disected about 6 or 7 keyboards, and only two had keys that attached the same way, and they were all black anyway.
It sure would be among the "ultimate mods", IMO, to do a lighted keyboard. I wouldn't want one, but I could certainly appreciate the "art" of the mod. -
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
Sorry, this is a bit irrelevant to the nature of your post, but if you like making mods to your keyboard here's something that might interest you intead of your escape key:

Just don't close the lid on it! -
haha that panic button is kind of funny.. but i am going to attempt to do a keyboard mod.. if it turns out nice then i will post it up.. ill probably do it within the next month..

If it doesnt turn out nice will you let us know? It'd be great to get an snapshot attempt at a mod - and whether it should or shouldn't be done.

I have one that says, "Oh $h!+" on it. It was a full sized button for a desktop, like that one, but I cut the top 3 mm off and sanded the bottom flat. I used double-sided tape, and stuck it on one of the blank keys by the arrow.
