don't you guys just hate it when your keyboard begins to lose it's "matte" finish and gets all nice and shiny as if you're typing right after eating some KFC?

aside from using those gawd awful silicone protective layers... any other means of keeping your keyboard new?

    wow... does that help?

rather than oil stain... i thought it was more of the plastic wearing out...

What causes the wearing out of the finish is the sweat of your fingertips which is acidic.Cleaning out everyday helps but.....

Have you tried that before? That would be cool.. a bit pointless but cool.

I don't know, two weeks of careful use and my HP keyboard was shiny. And my laptop stopped feeling new.

I put a new keyboard in my Qosmio but the LED does not light up even though there was an open connector that matched the LED ribbon cable.

I have seen where HP HDX owners have been able to upgrade to LED keyboards. Apparantly theopen LED connector works on those.
