    1366x768 on a 15.6" display?

Why is it we can get cell phones with close to this resolution but most laptops nowadays have giganto pixels?

While I too find 1366x768 a groveling resolution on a 15.6" screen, it's not like this is the first time we are seeing consumer notebooks with low resolutions.

For the last several years, all we have seen is 1280x800 (and before that, 1024x768) on 15.4" and below notebooks. High resolution screens on notebooks have been a rarity since the early 2000s . . . and even then . . .

Yes, but not for notebooks with an MSRP of $1800. I can understand the lousy displays on $700 machines -- you get what you pay for -- but if you're going to bother with Blue Ray, 120Hz for 3D, etc. etc., it doesn't make any sense to scrimp on the screen.

Maybe this notebook has a 1366x768 screen because 120Hz panels in a higher resolution are not available yet.
