I'm a broken record, but 1366x768 just makes me cringe.

to make it a little bit cheaper? -
Asus had the same thing with the G51 and G50. They seem to focus more on putting performance inside and keeping the cost as low as possible, while neglecting the resolution. The G51 had the 1920x1080 option available, however... just a couple hundred bucks more...

I think a lot of people have to realize, not everyone wants 1080 on there notebook. I mean i'm one that can't really live without it, but for the regular consumer who buys these notebooks for multimedia/video work with a little gaming here and there, this is still a great choice.
-
I was going to mention the funny resolution but after clicking refresh everyone got to it first haha
-
A higher resolution panel should at least be offered as an option. I understand that some will want the 768 screen for easier readability and playing games at native resolution easier.
-
Hey, dual dirves, GT240M, i7, 16 inches, low res = cheap laptop
This is meant for good-gaming-on-a-budget.
I think it is not a bad idea, and since most people dont even know about resolutions... -

I might have actually been interested in this model (with a cheap enough price tag) but how in the heck is it still 7+ lbs?
-
If you want this model to weigh under 6 pounds... go here.

Still budget gamers don't need dual drives just good performance.
Better res screen would have been nice, even a 1600x900 screen would have been great and the GT240M is OK, wish it had a GTX 260M but then again they probably don't want to take away sales from the G51.
i7 core laptop is great but one gripe I have with ASUS is that they put out to many similar laptops and it gets confusing.
No it's not a bad idea but it really depends on the price.
If they were smart they would stuff a i7 820M in a G51 now that would be something! -
The 1600*900 should roll out after a while, but knowing Asus they'll charge an arm and a leg for it, and call it the "X4 version".
-
if they where smart they'd reintroduce the u80v with an i7 and up to 8 gigs of ram.

Still not enough demand for gaming on the go. Most manufacturers focus on either light gaming and portability, or heavy gaming with no intention of being portable. The reason the Envy is so expensive is because its not cheap to make something that can handle games and still have a shot at being portable (thin/light/battery life). The engineering is really difficult, because high-end GPU's suck juice and produce heat- no way around it.

Well, Asus gaming notebooks are not known to be light and portable and with good battery life, if you know what I mean.
Though in the price area, Asus does great I must say -
