Looks like Asus took a page from Dell where styling is concerned (not a bad thing!), wonder how these will stack up vis-a-vis some of the low end Latitudes & ThinkPads........
-
Hah. In my experience, the "scratch resistant" coating is actually just black paint over metal which instead of scratching, will just chip off.

I can only believe if Asus really releases these laptops soon. History says Asus comes with these news before 1yr of actual release or may scrap the release too.
Oh ! 15.6" HD (1366 x768) (LED) ? DEAL BREAKER without FHD option. This resolution is not fit for work. -
Reminds me of the HP ProBooks, in a way. Too bad these don't come with a TrackPoint and the top row mouse buttons, though. Otherwise, they look like fine business machines.

The warranty is great though. -
If ASUS wanted to carve out a niche, they would first address the lack of trackpoint and usable screen resolution...then offer the same high quality platform customizable from Core i3 to Core i7 CPUs and integrated to high end discrete graphics (offering both gaming and workstation variations). Basically build one perfect platform that offers the full gamut of customization. Let each user decide their needs for CPU, GPU, resolution, RAM, etc knowing they are getting the same"rock solid" platform regardless. It would have an advantage over Vostros and Probooks by offering build quality comparable to Precisions and Elitebooks even if you just want i3+IntelHD. It should be able to undercut other workstations because the platform is now subsidized from lower-end users allowing for better pricing.
