Hmmm.......Socket 2011....in a very, very large notebook. In the last year, desktop enthusiasts were quick to embrace the value of the i5-25xxK and i7-2xxxK processors on Socket 1155 boards and shyed away from the underwhelming Socket 2011. Does the world need a 6-core CPU that costs over 200% more and offered less than a 20% performance increase?
The product might have been much more interesting with a Z68 chipset instead of X79. At very least, it might have accomplished nearly the same performance at much more reasonable price point.Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
crazy power
-
But imagine the power....
-
Sometimes I don't get this concept of "notebook", what are the professional uses for this kind of power offers on the go
-
World domination.
But in all seriousness, while geek part of me looks at it starry eyed and drooling the pratical side says why not just get a desktop. -
Yes imagine the power...!!! For a 300W PS.
-
If you run the extreme CPU you will need 2 of those 300W PSU
.

Never really understood the point of the X7200 nor this laptop. With components like that (and the PSUs), why not just get a desktop (maybe even a SFF case that could fit the 580M/5010M)?
A laptop, imo, means that it's portable and that it has a respectable battery life. With the PSU(s), this thing approaches desktop territory, and obviously the battery life isn't all the great. -
As big as it is, it's still more portable than a desktop, most of which can't fit into a backpack. Not that I would ever get one.
Also...XoticPC has it for much cheaper. -
Not slightly interested in the notebook, but man I hope Clevo brings that keyboard to all of its 17" machines.
-
Does anyone know when it's gonna be physically available?
-
Yeah, I somewhat agree. The X7200 with its most powerful CPU - 990X, still loses to M18x in benches GPU and CPU alike. And the AW has 5hrs battery life
The main problem of this new Clevo, IMHO, is the lack of OC'ing potential even if going with an extreme CPU. It's virtually impossible to make a 200W+ heatsink in a laptop without turning it into a desktop.
