    Acer Announces New Gemstone Blue Notebooks

    Acer today announced its new Aspire Gemstone Blue notebooks with screen sizes of 15.6 and 17.3 inches. All feature 16:9 aspect ratio displays with LED backlighting, wireless N, and Dolby Surround Sound technology.

    Aspire AS5536

    The Aspire AS5536 features a 15.6-inch display. For a retail price of $479.99, it comes with a 2.1GHz AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processor, 3GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics.

    Aspire AS7735Z

    The Aspire AS7735Z features a large 17.3-inch widescreen display. It will come with an Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and integrated Intel 4500MHD grahpics for $599.99.

    Aspire AS5739G

    The last model on the announcement list is the Aspire AS5739G featuring a 15.6-inch display. For $749.99, it has a 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo T6500, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GT 130M graphics card with 1GB of memory, and a 250GB hard drive.

    Design-wise, they seem very similar to the previous Gemstone Blue series. The 5739G doesn't seem like a bad deal though. Looking forward to a review of some of these machines on NBR.

    looks good HD 3200 is a real head scratcher though, that must be the bargain versions.
