The last time we reviewed Acronis True Image Home, it certainly had potential . . . but major bugs held it back from being our editor's choice. Today we take a look at the newest version of Acronis True Image Home. Did Acronis redeem themselves and produce a winning product? Or do we have another flop? Read on to find out.

Thanks for this review ... a pity - I have been using Acronis 8 for XP for several years now and was contemplating an upgrade....

My experience through several releases has been that new features are typically a flop and don't work right for another release or two.

I upgraded to ATI 2010 because I was using Win 7. Otherwise I would have kept using my several releases old version. So far, ATI 2010--using essentially the same feature set I used before--is working fine. I haven't even thought about trying non-stop backup.

i use acronis true image sine v8, now i use v11, its 3 years old but it is great for backups and quick painless recovery. i just run it manually when want. tried v12 and its ''moved on'' since. they have lost the plot trying to make it too clever. it is very good at basic image backups and thats all.

Yes indeed ... I really only use it for making image backups and then restoring them if needed. I don't use any of the other "bells and whistles". :)

I was an avid user of Norton Ghost for years. It had a simple interface and restored easily. We began using Acronis 2010 at work to back up and restore several computers that are used to control equipment. It works really well and has a great interface. I actually like it better than Norton with one BIG catch...... I'm not sure the review covered this, but we found that the basic install of Acronis 2010 only restores to the original partition/computer. You can not restore it to a partition of a different size. To get around this you have to buy Plus Pack for Acronis True Image Home 2010. This was never an issue with Norton, but Acronis will hit you up for more $$$$.

lol is it still a whoping 300+mb file... way to bloated for what it does and imo it does not do it any better than many other faster and more resource friendly apps. and know the after purchase support is normally awful. and as rorsch said if you are a novice good luck getting it totally gone afterwards. normally you will not be able to install other backup programs unless you kill and remove the acronis service/s that is simply just leaves behind. now im not saying its not at all a decent program, it does a few things good and most just okay. and after being a long time acronis user and having them totally ignore issues on their own forums from many users i dont go there any more.

shadow protect, and macrium reflect would be my first two choices ANY day..

    Hello All,

I am in need of your help with Acronis. I am using Seven Home Premium x64. Installed all the applications including Acronis True Image 10. I cloned the hard disk to an external hard drive so that, I can install Seven Ultimate x64. I created Acronis Boot CD as well.

Now the problem, I have is when, I boot the laptop (HP dv7t 3000) with Acronis boot cd, I get the acronis screen to boot from the cd and after that the screen goes BLACK and nothing happens. I searched the net for solution - found nothing. Appreciate, if you can shed some light.

    Thanks

    Ram

The only way I was able to completely uninstall it was to disable the trueimage process in task manager then go into the acronis programs folder and rename all the .dl files except one of them which is protected. Restart then i can rename the protected file. then I use revo uninstaller to uninstall it and use the scan feature to detect any remaining registry and files. Works like a charm, but its a pain to do every time I use my backup image.
