Like I've said on another forum, I've pretty much decided to give the first wave a miss. Mainly based on the increasing price(s), glad to see it's not just the UKbut also the fact SSD will be bigger, better and cheaper next year.
This time next year..I'll be in there.

I'm not bothered about the specs or SSD size I just want a slightly bigger screen with a 1024x768 resolution lol.

Prices in Taiwan range from ~$240-420 USD. (5% tax included) 512MB's is more than enough for light tasks in windows XP. I'm not sure if 256MB's is enough though. And I'm a little confused about if the RAM is upgradeable or not. I have heard yes and no from various sites like eeehacks and eeeuser... I know the demo eee pc's had soldered RAM.

The RAM in the two lower-end models (Eee PC 2G & 4G Surf) cannot be upgraded without soldering skills and equipment, but the two upper-end models ( Eee PC 4G & 8G) has upgradable RAM. Since Asus only offers the lower of the two higher-end models ( Eee PC 4G), you can only buy upgradable RAM model currently, but I can see why people could easily get confused.
On the other hand, 256 MB can run XP. My 7-yr old Z505JS runs XP with 256 MB. It uses HDD a lot, though, but with flash memory as storage device in Eee PC you should get great speed improvement compared to my 4200 RPM HDD with 256 MB RAM. -
This thing is fascinating. I can't wait to get one.

I don t think i will buy this comp if it costs 399$... I mean, I bought a toshiba r100 for 500$ and it s almost as small but it has a full size keyboard and better specs...

Its kinda of hard to compare a notebook that retails for 399 against one that retailed for almost 2500. Did you buy the r100 used? -
yeah it s used.
It was 2500$ but like 3 years ago -
I have a question about the webcam. Can you use it to broadcast to sites like Justin.tv or Ustream? This would be one of the biggest selling features for me.
