Gee, I guess it's not much of a coincidence that a lot of these new ultra books are going to look suspiciously similar to the MacBook Air

 

None of those 'ultrabooks' look anything like a mac....

Lenovo u310? Nope.
Samsung Series 9? nope.
Asus UX31? Kinda, but not really

If anything, I'd expect Apple to Copy Asus and come out with a pink macbook.

 

I disagree. I think the Lenovo U310 looks pretty Mac-y. So does the HP Spectre.

They're also all trying to get that "one piece" trackpad right. I've tested some in person and some work, but others cause the cursor to jump around.

 

I can't wait for an IB 15" ultrabook. The GPU is the most exciting aspect of the Ive for me. I also hope laptop manufactures get the message: we want 900p screens. IB also mitigates the need for a dedicated GPU, at least for most people, including myself.

 

Samsung Series 9 maybe what your looking for once it goes IB as it' now comes in a 15in model and both 13in and 15in models get a 900p matte display.

 

That's actually something we discussed with Lenovo and HP at CES ... the fact that their "brand identity" at least appears to be diluted somewhat with products like the U-series and Spectre series which look VERY much like Apple products unless you get close enough to see the Lenovo or HP logos.

The designs aren't bad, in fact they look very nice, but it's easy for consumers to misidentify them as Apple products rather than Lenovo or HP products ... and I don't know if that is doing anything to help their brands.

 

I don't get what's all the hate with other companies "copying" the looks of another company's products. They copied the look of the mac air because it's thin and it works. If Lenovo was the first to do the wedged laptop design, everyone would rip on all other companies that tried to immitate the wedged design.

However, I do agree that the wedged designs looks awful. I prefer the book style such as the Z830/U300s/MBP.

I'd love to see the Yoga and X1 in person.

 

So how about the origin pc new design laptop it looks sweet, kinda like a cobra hood. Its a good change from the sleek look like the sagers.
