The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), is only a week away, with every major electronics manufacturer from AMD to Vizio ready to showcase the latest technology has to offer. Our lips must remain sealed about a few surprises that are in store, but we can round-up the best of the rumors and reveal some of the new technology and trends we expect to see.

CES 2015 officially runs from January 6th to the 9th, and the trade show has evolved over the years from being a convention almost exclusively for exhibitors to preview products to retail buyers. While CES has evolved to include press events where companies unveil new products to the public, the key purpose of this technology trade show is convincing retailers to buy the latest tech products for resale to their customers.

“The Big Show,” as Vegas locals often call it, will see consumer electronics and accessory manufacturers of every size launch hundreds (if not thousands) of new products for the year ahead. Here are a few of the highlights that we can talk about.

At this CES, I hope that we will start seeing Broadwell-U powered laptops, 2 in 1, tablets, and light gaming laptops. Seeing that the "ultra-HD" trend are finally starting to pick up, we might find more computers packed with these high-density display. Also, I hope Windows 10 improves the scaling. There's a chance Microsoft and their Surface Pro 4 might make an appearance at this event.

One last thing, I would like to see more gaming laptops ditch their optical drives for additional batteries or to shave some weight/thickness off.

I am currently on my laptop from 2007, I am in need for an upgrade! Haha, we'll find out what CES 2015 brings.

We can pretty much guarantee that you'll see more laptops and 2-in-1s with greater than full HD resolution in 2015. As 4K (and greater) resolution panels become more mainstream we'll see consumer demand of "at least 1080p" even in many budget devices. As such, better scaling in Windows 10 is a must have ... let's hope Microsoft and developers can deliver.

Broadwell-U is also a VERY safe bet. It's not like PC manufacturers are going to say, "Meh. Let's skip this generation of Intel processors." ;) The information we have is that Intel has 17 different SKUs for the new Broadwell-U chips covering the Celeron price point up to Core i7. The only thing we need to hear now is when the OEMs think they can start shipping Broadwell-U systems to consumers in 2015.
