HP today announced a new addition to its Compaq Presario lineup in the form of the v6000 15.4" widescreen notebook. The v6000 features a new design being rolled out in the Presario lineup. It features a durable, shiny finish that looks like highly-polished brush steel along with touch-sensitive backlit buttons and volume control. The v6000 is powered by AMD's dual-core 64-bit Turion X2 processor and graphics are handled by the nVidia 6150 card.

Why no V9000?? HP havent had a 17" Compaq since they discontinued the X6000. The Compaq has just the clean look compared to the HP's multimedia look and a 17" would have looked gorgeous IMO.

good question. My question is why in the hell do they continue to release consumer notebooks under two brand names (Compaq and HP) with slight variations and not just make one line. The world will never know. They're sticking with this approach for the forseeable future though.

    Sweeeeeet.

Why no Duo Core version? Guess that comes later.

Very sleek looking laptop. I've been trying to find one in some of the local stores (well, it's lil sib, v3000) with no luck.
