Ha! No, I don't work for Dell, I'm not a reseller, and I am not a company head (hmmm, good thought though) :p  ...I just own a few Dell's..and I have a Dell EPP Rep, that I have done all my purchasing thru for a long time!

That's all, no big deal. :D

It appears that the new fifteen-inch standard for mainstream laptops is 15.6", with 1366x768 resolution. Down from 1280x800, the older standard.

So it doesn't look like manufacturers are offering 16.4" 16:9 screens at 15.4" 16:10 pricepoints. Which means that we must compare 15.6" 16:9 screens to 15.4" 16:10 screens, in which case the 16:10 screens win out.

Interestingly, 13.3" on most notebooks has gone to 13.1" on the Sony Z and 13.4" on the Adamo. Shouldn't it have gone up to 14.2" to keep the same vertical but make the screen wider? But they've just added more black space below and above the screen.

A 16:9 15.6" @1366x768 has the same screen height and comparable DPI to a 16:10 14.1" screen @1280x800. 1366x768 is a net gain in pixels over 1280x800 so it's not really accurate to refer to it as being "Down".

You sure it's not that 12.1" on most notebooks has gone to 13.1"? ;)

I do wish we saw more 15.4" WXGA+ (1440x900) displays. I've seen surprisingly few, even in mainstream mid-range $600+ machines.
