The latest netbook release from Dell, the Inspiron Mini 10, has popped up for pre-order on the QVC.com website to reveal all of the specs, pricing and shipping dates. The Inspiron Mini 10 was first revealed at CES in Las Vegas where Dell made it clear this netbook offering would be a little more special specs wise than the existing Mini 9 and Mini 12. Here are the notable specs on the Mini 10 being offered via QVC at the moment:

Apparently QVC will be putting this on the TV air waves tomorrow evening to start selling to the masses at that time. Dell should be launching a product information area on their site this week too, but you won't be able to order via Dell.com until February 26th. When it pops up on Dell.com the Mini 10 will start at $399 with a 1.2GHz Atom processor, 1GB RAM and a 160GB HD.
For those that were excited by the promise of a higher resolution screen on the Mini 10, you'll have to wait until later on in March or April for the WXGA 1366 x 768 option to be available. Other higher end offerings such as integrated digital TV tuner, integrated broadband and GPS will also become available as Spring arrives.
One very notable feature that we'll be excited to test is the new touchpad implementation. Dell has (without intending to we assume) taken a page from the recent aluminum body Apple MacBook release by integrating the mouse buttons into the touchpad at the bottom so it "rocks" at the base of the touchpad and allows you to register clicks that way. The touchpad also offers unique touch features such as placing your hand flat on it as a shortcut for minimizing all windows to get to the desktop. The Mini 10 keyboard also appears to be much more user friendly for those with larger sized fingers. Key placement will be very similar to your average keyboard and key size also standard. The test will then be how firm the keys are and if the travel is good, all of which we will put to the test in an upcoming review.

Wonder why they are using the Atom Z530. I also wonder how the battery life will be after having all those gadgets in it (TV Tuner etc.)

$560?!?! what is this made of gold?

Looks like they took down the pre-order already...
Looks like it'll have some cool things on it, but doesn't look like it's anywhere near the perfect netbook. -

I was debating this or the Asus 1000HE. Dell's price and lack of extended features at launch makes this netbook not really worth it to me. Preordering the Asus would also only cost $375. Bluetooth GPS and an external tv tuner card and bang, I got the same thing pretty much. (tv tuner card might be too much for the little netbook). Will miss that HDMI though.
This is coming from someone who loves his Dell XPS M1530. -

not even 600 pixels high anymore. terrible.
othervise beautiful. but without 600 pixels you can't even see all ordinary windialogs anymore i'd guess. -

nonupgradeable RAM too. Dell needs to hire me for their creative director because I can tell them what they're doing wrong
-
It will still sell very well tomorrow for pre-orders, I'm sure.

After today's various details, I'm afraid I'm leaning (heavily) toward the HP Mini 2140 again.....just waiting for the 1366x768 display to materialize in mid-March, as promised....
If Dell would add the 1.86GHz Z540 to the Mini 12 or Mini 10 (especially with the Mini 12's 1280x800 12.1" display), they'd have a real hit on their hands! And get around that 1GB mandatory, non-upgradeable RAM... -
Too expensive. It's back to the 1000HE or NC10 (if the price drops
) for me.
-
Do note that it'll be $399 for the 1.2GHz version when it pops up on Dell. Let's not hang Dell by the rafters for a third party pre-order price.

I'm just going to wait until it shows up on the Dell site to see what the "real deal" is straight from the horses mouth.

We'll probably most likely see a $150 off coupon but that is still a tad expensive for a netbook. The Asus at least has bluetooth standard. How long did it take for the Mini 9 to be dropped in price?
I'm also afraid that a tricked out netbook will pay in battery life. I'm a bit spoiled since my XPS M1530 w/ 8600GT lasted close to 5 hours with a 9 cell. -
(Side note: My 1530's 9 Cell lasts about that long, also!)
Cin -
Well according to what I have read the Atom Z530 is not as speedy as the the Atom Z270/Z280, but it is less power hungry.
So Dell puts out another overpriced product what a surprise!
The newer ASUS is a much better deal by far. -

4200rpm? Wow that sucks and im sure the SSD options cost an arm and a leg.
-
At the price QVC is selling it for it does not seem like a very good deal.
And no 6cell, no upgradeable RAM and no high resolution screen at launch
I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens with the mini10 later this year if I don't go and buy another netbook -
Sounds like QVC is running a scam to me on that pre-order to list the retail value as $688 for those specs. I think QVC is trying to get away with charging for what a fully equipped Dell Mini !0 with the GPS, TV-Tuner or high res screen options will cost when it's made available.
The only thing QVC is listing in their specs over that 1.2Ghz Mini 10 which will start at $399 is the Z530 1.6Hz Atom....an option that Dell currently charges only $50 extra to upgrade on the Dell Mini 12.
Unless they're selling fully loaded Mini 10s then I think QVC is trying to rob people. -
expensive

Overpriced, even the 399 that dell will offer it for.

The lack of upgradable RAM and the extra "features" have caused me to pull to the trigger on the Asus 1000HE. I held out until more details for the Mini 10 were revealed and now I'm not that all impressed.
I'm only paying $343 for the 1000HE with Live cashback through J&R -

They like repeating *This not at Dell.com, or anywhere else other than AT QVC*
(and it's a Dell creation).

Looks like Dell is in on the scam too.

When will they talk about the good specs? Or dont' they do that on QVC?Bah..they don't even include free shipping...$559..

its gonna be over $600 with tax and shipping i wonder how much money dell made off of this?

QVC the *middleman*..and the *middleman* always have a nice markup/profit!

very dis-pointed with mini 10 just not come with 600dpi screen.....
i think just make me change to HP. -
dell should price it at 350
-
its on tv right now............

Cin -
I don't mean to be a downer but why would ANYone buy this right now? I want one in the future when it's cheaper and has more features but right now there are way better deals out there
