Dell introduces new HDD, SSD options on XPS
Dell has introduced several new storage options for its XPS line of notebooks, including the M1330 and M1730. A 500GB 7200RPM Seagate hard drive with a free-fall sensor is available for an additional $150 over the base 320GB 5400RPM on the XPS M1330. In addition, a Samsung 256GB SSD is now available, commanding $400 over the same base drive on the M1330.The 500GB 7200RPM hard drive and 256GB SSD will be available on more Dell laptop models in the coming weeks.

WOW an update to the m1330 AND the M1730? I never thought the day would come!
that is an awesome price for an SSD as well. cool -
That is quite a good price for the SSD; a comparable one from Apple costs $900. Not a great price for the hard drive considering it'll probably cost about that at retail once it finally comes out, but the good news is that it's actually finally available! It was supposed to be out sometime last quarter.

Seconded. Good price for the SSD but not for the HD. I wonder if any of the major notebook vendors will ever give us a chance to get HDs or processors at realisitic prices. The new Seagate drive is listed at my local store for 114€ / 119€ (with g-force protection). That is ~ 130 USD without tax.

How is this newsworthy?

Oh, brilliant. Right after I order Seagate's 320GB 720RPM drive
I didn't realize they had something larger. Oh well, I got the best available on Newegg. -

As opposed to announcements of new notebooks? How is it not newsworthy on a site about notebook tech?
-
Definitely noteworthy in my opinion. Looking forward to getting my hands on this...<object width='0' height='0'>
