Abaxter, you state that the M6809 model is available thru Bestbuy, but I just contacted them and it's not available. After contacting Emachines, they wern't very helpful either, not even confirming that the model was even available, and could dissappear as their M6807 model did. Can you provide any site that Actually do offer the M6809 model. Thank you
-
Hopefully it's available sometime soon. This looks to be one of the best deals on a laptop I've ever seen. (eMachines M6809)
Anyone seen a formal review for this model?

Was passing through a town while on a drive and stopped for lunch - saw a BestBuy across the street and thought I'd stop in and have a look. Saw 4 M6805's and 3 M6809's in their stock cage. $1499 for the M6805 and $1649 for the M6809, before a $100 rebate. They also had a Compaq (didn't take note of the model number) for $1500 with the AMD64 cpu (3000+), but it had nvidia GO440 video (3 year old video technology on a new laptop) and no firewire. Not too impressive in comparison, but at least an AMD64 chip inside.

I just picked up the m6809 on Thursday (4/15/04) from Best Buy. So far, I absolutely love it. I did some comparisons with a co-worker's laptop which was a brand new HP Pavilion with an Intel 3.2 Hyperthreaded processor (ZD7000). The m6809 beat it in every single test. Sometimes it was twice as fast. You won't be disappointed with this one.

Hi.. Im very interested in purchasing the m6809, i was at best buy looking for laptops and this model caught my eye.. I was kinda hesitant becuase emachines i wasnt 2 sure about but then i found gateway bought them out and stuff which made me feel better... I build computers as a hobby and know its cheaper 2 build and i use pricewatch so.... Well anyway i build comps for all my friends and stuff but i really like laptops a lot.. i had a dell inspiron 8200 p4m 2.4 over the summer and sold it for my 86 mustang svo and made 200 more dollars on the laptop, lol... well ... 1 question- how is the video card becuase the only thing im concerned with is it having only 64mb shared ram... I wanted at least 128 but the price is very very good.. Just let me know about the 3d card if its good or not and what games u guys play and quality settings and stuff.. ex, ut2004 stuff like that...
I would consider dell or powernotebooks.com or discountlaptops.com but i dont want to wait weeks and weeks for it 2 ship.... I do like amd over intel though.. Gotta love the price differences and performance is very good i think
thanks.

I recently purchased an Emachines M2105 at Best Buy for $699 after rebates. This is my first notebook. This is my first Celeron. I have limited use for a notebook so I was really looking for value. I found it. The 15.4 inch WXGA screen is very nice -- lots of real estate. The 40 G hard drive is not filled up with a bunch of useless software. The bundled software is only 3.8 megs. It looks and feels well-made and solid. The Synaptics full featured touch pad is a nice feature at this price. Its most definitely needs another 128 megs of RAM. Other than that, if the specifications are satisfactory for you, I would not be put off by the Emachines brand. I doubt that there is a better notebook value for $700 at this time. While Best Buy states that the memory is PC 2700 Emachines' site says it's PC 2100.

I have been looking for a 64 bit laptop for a while.
I found the M6809 at the bestbuy, and the compaq R3000 witch is a 64
bgit chip as whell. The M6809 is a good computer for gamein due to the speed, and the video card. ATI radeion 9600 is a good card i have been useing this card in my desktop computer for about a year with no problems. I belive i am going to buy this laptop tommrow. -
anyone known anywhere in southern california where they have the m6809 in stock? or any online retailers? thanks
-
i live in San digeo, and the best buy in parkway plaza has 4 in stock.
-
cool! I live in San Diego too and couldnt find it at the mission valley bestbuy. I wonder why the bestbuy.com website doesnt have it listed at all?
Do you know if the M6809 at the bestbuy you mention has the 100+150 rebate like the m6805?
-
it did whe i checked, but it ran out today. may/1/2004

Hello all, I'm putting this up because it seems no one here has been able to find the eMachines M6809 online, so here are some places you can get it. By the way, the Best Buy link I found on the page for M6809 on emachines.com by clicking on "buy now", and the others I found just googleing "eMachines M6809":

There are more but I got tired of surfing google. Hope this helps.
P.S. There's a review for the eMachines M6805, which is the same except the dvd drive, in the May 2004 issue of mobilepc magazine. -
Heh I find it highly suspicious that just as the bestbuy rebate ($150)for the m6809 expires, it suddenly appears on the bestbuy.com site. For shame bestbuy!
Now I'm going to wait until they offer a $150 rebate again, or wait until another retailer carries it with a rebate in addition to the emachines one.
-
Well they now stil have the 150 bestbuy one tell 5/8/2004 + the
100 dollar emachines one added to that.
This is at the bestbuy in parkway plaze San diego C.A.
