You may have a different understanding of design, but I don't find the X505 that elegant at all. It's an oddball, which is why it didn't take off in the marketplace. I didn't say the MBA was all that great, except Apple did initiate this momentum that made razor-thin all the rage again.

I guess dell screwing up the design is not a new thing. They have good designs around, but often they screw it up by adding an overdesigned lid, like on the recent Precision series.
I basically like everything about this design, except the cheap looking two colored lid. My idea was just to keep it simple.
And what's up with your defensiveness on every criticism? Do you really believe that all produts are equally nicely designed? -
That's also what they said about the XPS 1330 when it was first unveiled. The design of XPS 1330 was a big leap from the famous Dell white bumpers. Now instead of saying that Dell lured over designers from Sony like they did with the XPS 1330, people will say that they lured Apple's.

1) Not on every one.
2) You haven't seen my bashing posts yet.
3) To answer your last question: only 10% are nicely designed, the rest are crap.
