Fujitsu Computer Systems today debuted the latest addition to its thin-and-light LifeBook(R) S Series, the LifeBook S7000 notebook. The 4.3-pound notebook now features a larger display, a faster Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor and several other enhancements for improved performance, functionality and security. The Fujitsu LifeBook S7000 improves upon the previous S6000 series with a larger 14.1-inch display, a new keyboard layout and an optional pointing stick along with the standard touch pad.

    The New Fujitsu S7000 Notebook

Inside, the LifeBook S7000 notebook features a faster Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor operating at 1.5 GHz and the enhanced Intel(R) 855GME chipset. Users can also outfit their notebook with the updated Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection. The new Intel wireless solution completes the Intel(R) Centrino(R) package and can operate in both 802.11b and 802.11g wireless environments. Users can also choose models with an Atheros wireless module (802.11a+b/g) or elect to configure without a wireless LAN solution.

"Fujitsu introduced the LifeBook S Series notebook in 1999 with the intention of bringing one of the most versatile and innovative thin-and-light notebooks to market," said Paul Moore, director of product marketing for Fujitsu Computer Systems. Since then, the notebook has won numerous editorial awards and has been embraced by corporations and SMB users alike.

For example, Accredited Home Lenders, Inc., one of the nation's premier mortgage banking institutions, has depended on LifeBook S Series notebooks for two years. Two hundred of its sales representatives carry the Fujitsu notebook with them in the field.

"We rely on Fujitsu notebooks to provide exceptional service to our customers," said Reid Kilpatrick, IT Consultant for Accredited Home Lenders. "The LifeBook S Series notebooks are extremely dependable and lightweight. In fact, our account executives affectionately refer to them as their 'silver bullets.'"

With the latest generation, Fujitsu continues the legacy by taking an award-winning design and adding several enhancements to increase its value.

One popular feature that remains untouched is the modular bay. The modular bay can accommodate a variety of optical drives, a second bay battery or a weight saver. However, now users can equip their system with a modular DVD Super Multi drive in addition to a DVD/CD-RW drive or CD-ROM drive. The new drive enables users to save and share music, videos, photos and data onto virtually any DVD or CD format.

Fujitsu has also kept the noteook's reassuring security features, including a pre-boot security panel and built-in Smart Card reader(1). For added security, users now have the option of a Trusted Platform Module (TPM). TPM consists of a discrete silicon chip and software interface that enables users to run applications, perform online transactions and communicate in a secure environment.

Pricing for the Fujitsu LifeBook S7000 notebook starts at $1,599
