rumored at 1450usd

Nice price & specs
-
Unbelievable price....
-
A model with a 9800m gt would be nicer.
-
That's amazing for the price!
-
i wonder what os
home preminum 64 bit right -
Very impressive stuff for $1500ish
-
If Bestbuy does what it did with the 6860FX, this machine will go on sale about once per month.
-
Can you get it with a better processor?
-
not stock no. you would have to upgrade yourself.
but if the 7811FX chassis is anything like the 6860FX's, it is very very easy to upgrade processor. -
If there will be other versions those will 100% be more powerful.
You can always buy another CPU and put it in there. -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
As others noted, you can upgrade it no problems. I am not sure if this voids the warranty, however.
I can assure you the P8400 is more than fast enough for games. -
I am pretty sure it does void your warranty.
And yes, I agree with Chaz - the P8400 will do fine. -
Amazing price....especially when BB puts it on sale.
-
I think this is why I will try to hold off on my notebook purchase for a couple of months. Now when Asus & HP refresh their models I will start shopping
Nice notebook specs for the price Gateway. -
HP already did refresh their models.
-
the price is insane!!
-
That is plenty fast for just about anything.
-
An even better deal than the 6831 IMO. I thought their processor was a bit weak before, but now it's certainly up to par. It's even got DDR3 memory - suprising for the price considering the other specs. If I'd been in the market this summer instead of last summer - and had waited this long to buy - this would've warranted serious consideration, with only limited and late availability being a drawback. Amazing deal.
-
Actually, there was a user who sent in his T9300 upgraded 68XX for repairs and Gateway didn't mention anything. I was surprised.
-
Really? Thats odd.
-
jesus! That thing is so awesome. All that for 1500 damn. Why does it have to be a 17'' screen though.
-
Same issue I have - it's just too darned big for my purposes, or I woulda' jumped on the 6860FX for $1099 a few weeks ago!
Oh well
T -
This is a great price for what you get. Definitely worth a look for those looking to purchase a gaming notebook.
-
Hell... that price is unbelieveable for such a machine. 1920x1200 res?! 9800m GTS?! A non-crippled CPU?! 4gb DDR3 1066? Ridiculous.
-
Gateway is insane. End of story lol. Making me consider a 17"
-
If we can swap DVD drive to Blu-Ray Drive .It'll be a nice Hi-end DTR
-
I see no reason why not,lol
@everyone that responded to me,
I think I am going to pick one of these up when it comes out
The processor isn't bad at all really now that I look at it. The price is amazing period...beats Alienwares pricing hands down, lol
-
If they shipped to Australia, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
-
Depending on if I get the job I want will decide whether I get this or not. But as of price/performance for gaming rigs this is the current king if it does actually exist. I asked a BB rep today and they said they doubted it and said something about gateway going out of business or something.
Either way this will be by far the cheapest gaming rig Ive seen and it looks like it will pack a serious punch in every day power too.
Being an enthusiast model this should be the norm. They know gamers try to get the most power under the hood, and by law they cant deny a warranty claim unless the upgraded/aftermarket part is what caused the issue. -
lol, BB reps are morons. Gateway is just changing its model of business and no longer selling directly to the customer.
-
yes thats true ..
but i did hear that gateway somewhere in this form and other forms that gateway is not doing a revised fx one for bestbuy
hopefully this is real it looks good -
The info on the P-7811FX is up, and available, on Gateway's site itself - no hidden linking, no BS - right on Gateway.com
'nuff said on that

Either way I seriously looking at this bad boy. WUXGA Screen, 4GB DDR3, P8400, 9800GTS, god damn I am seriously tempted again. Love the fact at idle laptops run so much cooler then desktops.

Got a link to this page? Might even pre-order.

-

T -
Sorry didn't see, thanks.
-
the gateway fx series is surely a good buy, not the best quality build but then again none of the others like dell, toshiba, HP, Sony arent putting out anything more solid and compared to its competition its fairly well built, I just wonder how long that screen would hold up or the motherboard, not alot of ventilation, should have independent ventilation for the graphics card
-
Mad already, ordered the new P-7811FX (backordered through BB) and just in the last 3 hours GW added a new variant with a 2.53, B Ray Rom, only 3GB Ram, 320GB 5400 HD, everything else is the same.
Here is the link http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2008/GodzillaFX/1015785R/1015785Rnv.shtml
Anyone know where this one will be selling at? -
Where? It will be selling in Japan.
The models with the J suffix are Japanese models. -
it added 1.3 HDMI
-
Specs look pretty good and their finally getting a decent processor.
-
so this will be in BB store on August 14, or just start shipping on that day
