Everything I've read indicates somewhere in the 2 to 2.5 hour range for the Eee PC 900.

The team here at NBR will find out in a couple weeks when we get an Eee PC 900 to review. Let's hope it's more impressive than 2 to 2.5 hours.

I know it's wishful thinking, but if HP actually put in a celeron-m, even a core solo, with X3100 graphics in their mini-note, I'd pick one up in a heartbeat.

The reason for the 1.5 hour report (and I have been doing research) is that they are shipping with 4400mAh capacity, which will run you abou 1.5 hours. If you want to buy an Eee pc (like me) wait until they (LG, I think) resolve the battery crisis (there was a fire at a factory in Taiwan, I believe). ASUS Eee pcs normally ship with 5700mAh capacity batteries (2-3 hour life). So DO NOT BUY UNTIL THEY ARE THERE. You'll pay $550 for crappy battery life and then have to replace with an expensive replacement to boot.

    Hi All,

To any of you thinking to buy an HP laptop, please read the following forum discussion in HP website :

    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Hardware&message.id=1206

Around 2 years ago HP sold some notebook products with AMD processor and NVidia GPU. Everything works fine and we love it, until last December it crash: giving weird scramble line on the screen and finally crash and it can not be restarted anymore. Now its just a dead laptop.

The problem was experience by so many, may be thousands, of owners and HP didn't try to solve the problem. The customers service have been contacted and they just goes around the bush as if trying to guide you to perform repair, but eventually they will ask you to send the notebook to their service center, and of course we need to pay a lot of money for it.

The problem was caused by NVidia GPU chip's thermal problem that make the chip overheated and finally fail to operate. The problem was already acknoledge by NVidia

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/io_1215037160521.html

    Overall, the main problem is:

    1. HP did not response this problem in the right way and did not put their frustrated customer in their priority to solve the problem (loss of money, time, and works)

    2. It is indeed not happen in all models, however, it is possible to happen in anyone / any model. Once something serious like this happen ... they just washed their hand away.

Sorry if this sound uncomfortable, however, I am just so disappointed on how they treat their customer. Just imagine ... YOU BUY A NOTEBOOK TO BE USED JUST FOR 1 YEAR ... THEN IT WILL DIE.

    thanks.

My friend has a dv2000 which just died a couple of months out of warranty and HP did nothing, unlike Dell which acknowledged the errors and extended warranty of people with XPS M1330 w/ 8400M GPU. I don't think I'll be buying from HP myself.

hey, i bought a refurb. 2133 with XP for like $500 including a 3yr warranty. my experience is that this thing rocks!!! but it is not intended for long-term use - only as a travel buddy. It runs hot, and I wonder if that is what caused my trouble . . .

. . . the board died after 3 months - but the repair service was excellent! i went to the chat site (waited on phone for over an hour & never did get anyone) and had a confirmation within 5 minutes for a box to be sent. I sent the laptop in on a Thursday, and had it back the next Monday - no kidding!! - repaired and with all my own data still intact!

I loves it! They are totally redeemed in my eyes! All the crap I heard for years has been proven wrong in my experience!!!!
