I like the new paint finish on the ProBooks, the brownish metallic look is definitely unique and is refreshing to see.

    A 1366 x 768 14" display on the 4420s doesn't, in my opinion, qualify it as a business notebook.

The Tablet looks pretty neat though; 11 hour battery life on an i5 o_O

The 2540p strikes me a just a touch on the heavy side (starting at 3.38lb -- even a little more than the previous 2530p that started at 3.19lb) for a premium 12" ultraportable, especially if you compare it with, say, the Lenovo X201s starting at 2.48lbs or sony Z at 3.07lb.

Again Dell's Latitude XT2 gets its butt kicked by the competition.

Dell is really falling behind (except with the Precision M6500). What gives?

Hmm ... it definitely is unique ... I don't know if I personally consider it refreshing, but then I don't see as many notebooks as you all do. Interesting idea though....

Yeah it's a bit odd: Dell is usually quick in releasing new models, and was first out of the gate with the 17" M6500. But now HP/Lenovo have pretty much released their whole new line up (order time may be a different question..) except for the 17" 8540/W701 workstations. Makes you wonder if there are supply/design issues. Or did they just get together in some back room: "OK Dell baby you take da 17". Me an HP here we'll take da rest."?

Dell tends to hold back on announcements until they know that the parts are on the way to the assembly plants and they can therefore give realistic delivery dates once people start placing orders.

Well, considering I see a lot of complaints about missed delivery times on the M6500, they were either overly optimistic, or the issues with the M6500 is what's delaying their other announcements...

I heard the same regarding delayed M6500s, and all the delays with Dell's Studio XPS 16 earlier this year are not an indicator Dell does this. Maybe they try, but it has not worked out in practice.
