Intel introduces CULV platform for ultraportables
What is this, another small notebook platform? According to a DigiTimes report, Intel plans to introduce a Consumer Ultra Low-Voltage (CULV) platform for ultraportable notebooks in the second quarter of this year. Prices for notebooks based on the CULV platform are expected to be US$699 - $899. The CULV platform is most likely Intel's answer to AMD's Yukon platform, used in small notebooks like the HP Pavilion dv2.
Intel will have four notebook segments this year: 12.1-inch and larger normal notebooks, netbooks (Atom/Pineview platform based), Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs)(Menlow-based), and finally ultraportable notebooks with an 11 - 13.3-inch display.

God man these intel guys are devils they can't even let AMD take one market?
Jeez......this is obviously a competitor to NEO which means Intel had to be hesitating over it i just dont want to see AMD go down under -

Really doubt they do this to spite AMD. I think that this is just a bonus. I happy about this! AMD NEO vs CULV! can't wait!

GMA950? Ewwwwww...

I prefer this option over Atoms in netbooks larger than 10".
As for the Pineview, keeping the GMA950 sucks and I seriously hope integrating the graphics onto the chip doesn't screw over the Nvidia Ion platform. -

well lol at least thats one place where the AMD trumps this they have the ATI 3410 which is probably like 15x faster
me happy now

The Ion platform isn't a discrete graphics card...it uses the 9400M Nvidia chipset that's in notebooks like the MacBook Air to replace the standard Atom chipset.
If Intel is integrating the Northbridge onto the CPU then it may not work with Nvidia's chipset. -
Also the ATI HD3410 used in the dv2 is a discrete card the standard integrated option is the X1250. -

really? I thought there was two versions one with x1250 and one with the 3410 i learned something today....
Also according to somewhere i read the CULV will have a X4500 so i guess that is ok. -

The GMA500 would be better than GMA950 but I'd still rather have the integrated 9400M.
