This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    This year the performance crown is going to go to Intel thanks to the new Core microarchitecure. Next year though, around Q1-Q2 (no date yet), watch out for AMD's new architecture, interesting to see how it compares to the Core 2 Duo. Of course, that is all far off right now and there's no telling what will happen.

    AMD should still ride out this year high and dry in my opinion; they have developed 'street cred,' something Intel never wanted them to have, over the past few years with the Athlon 64 and X2.
