    Intel will not reduce notebook prices
    [IMG]
    A DigiTimes report alleges Intel is telling its partners not to expect any price cuts until June this year in response to speculation that they would reduce prices in the first quarter this year. Some notebook CPUs will see 13-40% price drops in June.

    Bah, too bad, probably going to buy a new laptop before then.

    But still good news in reducing the overall price of laptops.

    Any news from AMD?

    Intel did upgrade their cpus recently.

    T9600 -> T9800
    T9400 -> T9550
    P9500 -> P9600
    P8600 -> P8700
    P7350 -> P7450
    T5xxx -> T6xxx
    T3xxx -> T4xxx

    I believe when they launch T9900(which will happen in june based on above article), T9600 will basically take T9550 place.

    I'm glad that they delayed the cut till this summer . . . . I now know that I won't be buying another computer any time soon!

    PhenomII hit the desktops though as did the Radeon 4xxx series. Then prices went down. Gee, I am getting a pattern here. Go AMD! Though they seem to be asleep in the mobile world at the moment.

    I love AMD (I use them in my desktop), but they have ALWAYS had trouble with heat and power consumption. This is why they lag behind with mobile devices.

    So, about how much time will it take to see a drop (if any?) in notebook prices as a direct result of that?

    Do you now see why it is so bad that AMD is not very competitive on the mobile market?

    The title to this thread is crap. Intel has very little effect on the price of notebooks. All they do is supply HP, Dell, ect some chips that go in the notebook. The display is a much larger cost element in a laptop then the CPU as is the cost to build.
