Intel is constantly working on concept designs to showcase their chips and other hardware. These designs often push limits and aren't intended to reach mass production; but intended to inspire manufacturers and show consumers what's possible.

Their latest concept is a Centrino-based tablet-style notebook that is designed to be ultra-mobile. In the words of Intel, thedesign is, "A new, ultra-mobile notebook PC that is small enough to fit in the user's hands, consumers will be able to easily enjoy digital entertainment away from, in and around the home." Following are a few images of the concept and potential uses. I especially like the bike picture, exercise is boring, why not hit the bike trail while watching a movie? Sounds nice and safe to me.

This is a hilarious news. Sony U series fits the Intel hype exactly and is actually about half the size. What exactly is in it that makes it so huge?

skyshade is right, this isn't exactly a 2040 forward looking technology. the sony vaio u series is an example of a product that already attempts what Intel is demoing here. the u series bombed in the u.s. as a side note, they pulled it from stores within a couple of months.

How is this any different from what Microsoft showcased a few weeks ago?

Does anyone else find it hilarious that this thing is mounted on a bike? I can just imagine some guy showing off his new toy and watching an episode of the OC while riding it down the street and then crashing into a stop sign or something, hahah.
