If it was that price for 6 cell with 4gb of ram I would get one for my father.
-
There is another Congo based 11.6" laptop that I would like to buy but isn't out yet. Please release it! For $449, it's got my name written all over it.
EDIT: Oh no! They put the headphone jack in the front of it. I had a Sager m400a with the headphone jack in the front of it and that is pretty much the most inconvenient place you could possibly put it. -
Useless. Should've went with intel CULV than AMD... it's not even 45 nm process yet.
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
I can't decide if I like it or hate it. Looks nice yet so different. Its nice to think that with this would get Lenovo business support on a small, low cost machine.
-
Maybe we get lucky and Lenovo updates this ThinkPad once AMD releases its 45nm AMD Turion Dual-core Neo K625 with DDR3 800 support.
I think it should preform almost like the Intels current CULVs, just with a better gpu included in the deal. -
Depends on what you consider "useless". I consider the CULV "useless" when it comes equipped with a 4500mhd. My interest is because this is a reasonably priced ultra-thin with decent graphics.
We don't all use our computers for the same things, that's why there are different specs to choose from. More choice is good. -
Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
I didn't know Sailor Moon was in here!
Seriously though, I think it looks okay - I would prefer more battery life from a machine that size and price range, however.
Chicklet style keyboard on a thinkpad though ... who would have thought?
-
Mycanid. I can say that I havent.
Anyways, a Lenovo THINKPAD netbook? strange. -
I like this machine among the less-than-laptop segment. I love thinkpad keyboard and the trackpoint (Actually I would love NOT to have a touchpad).
My only concern is the processor. I don't know much about MV40, but it doesn't seem like competing against CULV processors in like 11Z or DM1. I hope they will offer an option to upgrade the processor, although we will not be able to have it with a better CPU under 500. I don't care much about graphics.
I have been watching this market for a long long time... I have been waiting for DM1, but it seems that I got another waiting period until this one comes out. -
I may be willing to give up the U230's HDMI for a trackpoint but if the X100e is only offering the single-core MV40 Neo option then I'll go for the MSI.
-
The pointing stick in an 11.6-inch notebook alone sells me on this. I'll be purchasing one.
-
A 6-cell that does NOT stick out, an HDMI output, reasonable pricing and i will get one.
A quick question: which is better...ATI Radeon HD 3410 vs Geforce 9400m?- I'm just trying to figure out if a 1.6Ghz Athlon MV40 + ATI Radeon HD 3410 is better than the Atom + Geforce 9400m (ion)?? -
The Congo platform uses the HD3200 IGP not the HD3410 discrete GPU.
The 9400M is faster than the HD3200 while the Neo is faster than the Atom. -
decisons, decisions. Plus my laptop just got stolen so i cant wait much longer.
-
5.1hrs from an ultraportable just doesnt cut it these days...
-
A "ThinkPad" should not have chiclet keyboard, IMO.
-
Donno. They could have pulled an amazing chiclet keyboard. Let's hope. Wh They did not try to bring it for the holiday season?? Maybe because Chinese do not know about Christmas and targeting for the Chinese new year (kidding)?
-
Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
I would agree with this if I was considering purchasing this one alongside other "netbook" style/size machines. -
5.1 hours from a budget ultraportable which is actually in the ultraportable category instead of in the 1.5Kg+ class does cut it I think, don't you?
-
Not bad....looks like the X100e may have dual-core Neo options.

Also more info on the ThinkPad Edge line.
EDIT: Looks like they're also up on Lenovo.com. On sale January 5th.

I cant access the webpages... I would really like to see the specs on these.
-
Looks like HotHardware took down the page...was wondering why it was dated Jan. 4, 2010.
AMD Neo MV-40, L335, or L625 options.
HD3200 IGP.
160GB to 500GB HDD options.
Up to 5 hours of battery life.
Starts at $499 in the U.S. for the MV-40 Neo. -
It's listed on the Lenovo page for 449, and comes with the 6-cell battery and WWAN included. I'm really liking it in red.
-
This makes much more sense than the Edge. It's cheaper, it's a good ultraportable, and looks just right.
-
That is not a thinkpad! Lenovo is really close to striking out and ruining the thinkpad name/idea.
-
Sure it is. It says so right on the lid and palmrest.
-
I can slap a ford badge on a toyota pickup does that make it a ford? No.
-
You can slap a Ford badge on a Mazda and it makes it a Ford, though
(Ford Probe was a Mazda in disguise - I know, I had one and loved it) -
So is the old mazda truck, was just a ranger in disguise. But basically what Im saying is a badge does not make something into what its not.
-
They own the brand name so they call the shots. They call it a Thinkpad so it is a Thinkpad...
Anyway not sure how well the AMD processor will work out. I've heard that it runs rather hot. Other than that it seems like a nice netbook. <3 the Trackpoint. -
I know, Im just trying to point out that it does look like or deserve the thinkpad name. But then again thats purely opinion based.
-
What is the processor being used?
-
I'd rather an Intel CULV, but of course you can't buy one of those with Ion or the HD3200. You can only get those in high end, expensive portables with discrete graphics. At the sensible price range, you are stuck with fail Intel graphics.
