This is what the Asus W90 is for....no fancy panced stuff just nothing but goods.

The price tag also falls well out of many people's budget for a laptop.

To me MSI seems like much more of a name brand than Lenovo...

Im 25 and a gamer, have been since I could pick up the atari controller and play with my mom. I also have never liked flashy laptops, even when i was a teenager I was always function over form and preferred a more spartan look. At 25 taking in a laptop like a toshiba qosmio to work would not be an option, yet I require the power that flashy top end laptops have. And sadly that is why i have to start thinking of replacing my vostro after just over a year. That is why a black on grey version of this laptop, or a sager 9262 variation would suit me. So why should I HAVE to be limited to a business laptop when I require more power? and why are gamers always clumped into the 10-21 age group? Heck 75%+ of the gamers I play with are older then me.

Now is that because you are a desktop guy who has been familiar with the brand from components over the years? I have to admit I knew of MSI 4-5 years before Lenovo. But after I found out Lenovo made the ThinkPad series for IBM, then was sold the computer business I had more trust in them. -
I've just heard MSI laptops since last year. Before that is null. I don't really recall MSI doing a BIG BIG GREAT GREAT job at desktop hardware department (well maybe they did, but everyone did as well). Lenovo, like Kevin said, produced Thinkpads, which are for Corp. companies, do you think they still want them if the quality is as lousy as, the MSI GT627. I admit the component is powerful, but seeing them using cheap plastic and structural reinforcement techniques to strengthen the thing just sicken me. They should have went for better quality plastic (since metal frame is expensive).
Edit: Might be too harsh on MSI since i've never touch this thing before. The judgement came from the picture from page 3. Maybe they just have chosen a cheap color, which made it look cheap. -

the "High end" version with the 4870 is only $2200 that means the lower end version with the 3850/9800gs will probably only be about $1500 or so. Even if that is out of the "budget" range im sure people will just save the couple of bucks till then. -
It's 2x USB ports!! Not 3!! Get the thing right! Learn what a eSATA looks like!
Anyway, excellent laptop. -
No thats a USB/eSATA combo port.
They have been around for a while now.
-
Now if only it supported quad core, 1920x1200 resolution and had a media remote...
-
Hmm, but on the MSI site, it says 2 USB ports. Are you sure about that?

Please someone make a laptop as powerful and portable as this. Good looking like HP pavillion's or HDX (IMO). And as well built and serviced as Asus. Please !
-
This laptop seems to be very well built. I'm sure msi will release improved versions soon!!!! I simply like that brushed aluminum!!!

I agree that the Asus G50vt's are too flashy... which is why I'm now looking at this laptop.
Do you think it gets too hot? I read on the review that this gets around 90F-130F in different areas under high load... I'm definitely going to buy a cooler for this if I end up buying it.
Also, the good thing about this laptop having a smaller resolution is that you can get better gameplay out of the machine. L4D on a higher res would mean decreased FPS, but the 9800m should be able to handle higher res anyway.
Yea this is the first laptop I've found in my price range ($1090) that has a small 15.4 inch screen. Asus is too flashy and not mobile enough.
I'M A COLLEGE STUDENT !!! edit: or rather, I will be... hahaha.. need mobility + gaming power.
