Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this site's product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. While these laptops aren't necessarily the most popular in terms of sales, they are the most popular based on the number of times our visitors clicked on them.

In that sense, think of this list as the "most clickable laptops of the month" ... the notebooks that most of the people visiting this site are interested in learning about. Keep in mind that clicks directly on the "Most Viewed Laptops" list do not count toward the total in order to keep the list as fair as possible each month. The only clicks that count toward the monthly totals come from web searches like Google or from visitors who have clicked on a laptop after visiting our "Notebook Database" or inside our forums.

The month of March features many of the same notebooks and netbooks that were popular last month. In fact, the only notebook that's new to the list this month is the return of the Dell Studio 15 to the Top 10. Still, this month's list suggests that consumers are still looking for the right combination of features and value. In some cases the perfect fit is a $300 netbook, and in other cases it might be a $1,500 multimedia notebook.

Maybe it's just me, but all direct links to the laptops from top 10 and "View NotebookReview Review for the..." links don't work(404 Not Found).

What? You think high prices keep average consumers (i.e. the majority of laptop buyers) from buying MacBooks?

Surely you jest. You must be watching too many Microsoft commercials about "Lauren" who decides not to buy a MacBook because it's too expensive.

Price has nothing to do with the low percentage of Apple's sales ... says me ... a member of the technology press who hasn't purchased any Apple computer since 2002 when he got married and discovered that his new family budget no longer allowed for over-priced computers. ;)

Granted, I still use Apple computers from time to time in our office since we have to stay current on all things Apple, but since 2002 I haven't spent my own hard-earned cash on anything from Apple ... other than an many iPods.

Apple's not on the list? Really? Hm, maybe the depression is showing its face among laptop consumers too. Almost every list I've read in the last two years or so had Apple notebooks on them.

actually funny thing is I haven't even seen the new MS ad... I hear they didn't screw it up!

on a serious note I remember a year and half ago when both the Macbook and MacBook pro were in the top 10 and the macbook in the top 5 for a while.
