Most Popular Notebooks for November 2006

Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this sites product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. In November the HP dv6000t holds very steady at #1 and the two Apple MacBook notebooks climb back into the top 10.

Its 15.4" widescreen form factor is the most popular type and the dv6000t is widely available in stores. 	2. Sony VAIO SZ (Previously #3)- Performance in a small package, that sums up the Sony VAIO SZ. The bright glossy 13.3" display is powered by dedicated graphics and a Core Duo processor. 	3. Dell Inspiron e1505 / Inspiron 6400 (Previously #4) - The Inspiron e1505 has moved up a spot from last month. The Inspiron e1505, sold as the Inspiron 6400 through Dell business, is fully customizable and now includes the Core 2 Duo processor, a high resolution 15.4" display and several drive options. 	4. Lenovo ThinkPad T60 (Previously #6) - The ThinkPad T60 moves up a spot this month. The T60 is available with either a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo processor. It comes with either a 14" or 15" display, Lenovo just announced a widescreen version of the 15" T60. This thin and light is all about business, featuring one of the best keyboards in the industry, dual pointing devices and optional integrated WAN. Apple's notebooks took quite a jump to the top ten; Macbook Pro went from #18 to #6. That's interesting.

The Toshiba A105 keeps falling; it was #1 in Sept, #2 last month, and is now #7. It'll be out of the top ten next month if that continues, although something tells me that it may make a comeback; everyone is going to Best Buy, Circuit City, etc and seeing the Toshibas when they go holiday shopping, and there are guaranteed to be an increase in searches for it.

 

HP Pavilion dv6000 series, #1 for a reason.
Toshiba is loseing ground rapidly, mainly because the competition is so good, but their keyboard is just too spongy.
Not a single 17" in the top ten, however if you measure the two screens, they are only about 1" higher and 1-1/2" longer.

 

I was impressed by the SZ and ThinkPad T60's movement until I saw the huge leap that the MacBook Pro made. #18 to #6? Wow.

On paper 17" systems are not much bigger, but in person the difference is quite substantial. Especially when you intend to take the system around a bit.

 

Nice performer from Dell 1501 considering it has almost same price with its sibling, e1505 which has better spec

 

Hm, now I'm stuck in a dilemma. Highly considering the HP dv2000t since its #1 while highly considering the Macbook because of the huge jump. The HP configured with the same specs if not better cost almost $70 cheaper AR (+student discount) than the Macbook AR (+student discount).

 

Don't forget HP pavilion dv2000t.
