QQQQQQQ Quad Core!
-
O_O. True 24-bit Screens! Wooooooohoooooo! No More Dithering. S-ips/s-pva/s-mva Ftw!!!
-
Hold up should I hold off on my dv7t then?
At that price that's basically a steal right? I mean twice the ram? Core 2 Duo Processor?
What do you guys think. Am I missing something here? -
they look great!starting price is good too!
-
I've only been following computer technology seriously for a year now, and it makes me realize how quickly everything goes...sigh. -
Quad core and 15.4 inches.... nice.
-
My nw8440 is looking even more obsolete now than ever before....
At any rate, I just checked the specs for the 8530w, and they are impressive. Too bad it won't have the dreamcolor display that the 8730w has, after all, that was the one area that the 8510w and the nw8440 really needed some serious improvements. But that eSata Port, Webcam, and Night Light are very nice additions, and HP finally added an ExpressCard slot! Too bad the PCMCIA slot is gone, though.
They seem very powerful, too. I don't know what the equivalent is to the Quadro FX 770M is, but the FireGL V5700 seems like a Radeon HD 3650, which seems pretty nice. And Quad-Core Processors?! Now that's power!
The only thing I don't like about the new models is the look. They do look flashy and cool, but they look too flashy to be business notebooks. The previous models looked much better and more professional IMO. They seem pretty durable though, based on HP's durability claim that is mets the MIL-STD 810F standard. I don't know how good that is, though.
Aside from the looks, these new notebooks will be awesome when they're released. -
Too bad I just got my new HP, but the new ones do look really good. There will more to come from Lenovo and Dell also.
The market is just getting more competitive. -

I'd use the words "sheer awesomeness" to describe these.
A few questions I'd like to pose to whoever can answer them:
1. The 8530p has a Radeon HD3650, but the 8530w has FireGL V5700, which is supposed to be the workstation version of the Radeon HD4670. Isn't that a bit odd? Is that actually correct? I know on the 8510p/w they both used the same GPU board, so wouldn't they do that here, too?
2. Do the 8530p/w offer LED-backlit screens?
3. Has anybody seen any of the new brushed-metal business laptops (even the 6930p)? I want to know if the wrist-rest is as shiny (and thus glare-ey) as the new consumer laptops. -
Those look so cool! Cooler than the XPS 1530! But too bad it only has workstation cards </3.
-
I think it's time to upgrade my Precision M90.
-
I checked it out and I think they look great visually, but... just like with Sony FW, it's not such a great bang for your buck... afterall it's just a laptop, that no matter how much you spend now it will be half the price in 6 month with outdated specs and looks really don't matter because they wear off quickly....
the only tempting thing in these new HPs is the DreamColor display and QuadCore which is not yet widely available, but that's going to cost an arm and probably two legs... -
Do you think HP EliteBook 8530 series will be good choice for students over DELLs XPS1530 and why?
-
-
men was thinkin of a macpro or Asuz m51 but i guess i will have to hold on for a lil while nice HP nice
-
workstation cards are just as good as normal gpus, even better in some programs
This laptop is awesome -
-
I believe the v5700 is based off of the RV730 core, and v3700 is based off of the RV710 core. The R700 series is the code name for the 4000 series, and the RV730 is I believe the same core as is gonna be used in the 4670.
-
WTH??? I always thought that notebook LCDs all supported 16 million colors... or is that only for external monitors? Even some PMPs support 16 million.
-
-
Why no 6930 workstation?
-
Bravo HP. The 8730w is magnificent and may very well cost an arm & leg, but at least you have the choice. Expect to see Dell crack back with some upgrade to the M6300 (now there is a blocky POW that is in much need of a redesign). Poor souls at Clevo can't seem to get competitive in the higher in laptop workstations.... they keep promising, but so far nothing beyond the Quadro 1600m in the 9262... let's see what the next few days has in store..
-
I am certainly impressed by the screens and Quad core CPUs. But looking a little further down that page you will notice the notebook is actually heavier than its older brothers. What is with the increasing weight of 15.4'' notebooks?
Secondly, being a business notebook I do not think the look is ''professional'' the darker design they have gone with on the 6535/6530b would have been more suitable. None the less, they do have some very impressive features and I am sure their build quality will be on par if not superior to the older series.
If you can wait long enough...HP will start rolling out incredible coupons for these notebooks like they did for the existing 8510/8710 notebooks...

Well they certainly look great. Almost tempted to sell mine and get one hah
But yeah, the extra weight is kind of a concern...mmm still very nice.
-
Mind you, even the 8530p comes with a 120W adapter for no good reason. More added weight for you...
-
The 8730w have the headphones output in the front, that's really bad!
-
-
wow, wow , wow, wow...
just when i was set on the g50v!
this better come out in australia soon -
-
It has to be one of thse three. Standard TN screens are 6-bit (18-bit). These are 8 bit (24-bit). Only IPS, S-MVA and S-PVA (and respective derivative) can show that. I doubt that they're IPS, as S-IPS is cheaper to manufacture these days. So there is a possibility it's S-IPS. Either way, These just might be the best Laptop screen.
-
but at least its offered in the first place.
-
Zat is true.
-
i like, i like
-
HP Elitebook 14.1" or Dell Latitude E? Somebody can give me feedback? No bias pls...
-
The review is not even up yet, no one can tell you anything.
-
Anyone know how the GFX card on the 15.4 incher will handle upcoming games like Red Alert 3 and starcraft 2? I heard somewhere that ATI HD cards arent very good for gaming. Thanks
-
You heard it wrong?
-
Keep on hearing. -
If this is supposed to a buisness class notebook good for Engineers, they missed the boat with leaving out the PCMCIA. I've got a good 6 grand in industrial communication adpaters. I guess that is progress. At least there are usb to serial port adapters out there. Maybe a USB to PCMCIA will come along.
-
-
You can search for benchmarks. For Red Alert and SC2, I doubt the ATI's won't be able to handle the graphics.
-
I'm personally glad they've moved from Cardbus to ExpressCard. You can buy Cardbus (card) -> ExpressCard (slot) converters, but you can't buy the converse. Now if only somebody (ASUS?) would make an ExpressCard C-Media sound card...
