I really don't think that the integrated graphics is too much of a dissapointment simply because the single core versions have the same. The one feature that I'm not seeing on the V2000t that the older models have availble is the memory card reader. That was one thing that I really liked. I'm on the verge of ordering the V2000z now that I know that the price difference is so large.

The one thing that I really like about the V2000T is the DDR2 RAM. If the V2000z had that I'd buy it without a second thought. Just my opinion though.

Thank you for posting this information. :)

Glad to see that they are finally avaliable.

Price seems too high for my liking though . . you can get much more for your money by going with a single core right now. Over time, I'm sure that we will see the price go down.

The V2000Z can't have DDR2 - it's an AMD notebook. In their next revision of their processors, AMD's will support DDR2. The reason they don't right now is in an AMD processor, the memory controller is on-chip - you'd need to somewhat overhaul the chip in order to get it to support DDR2. With Intel's, the memory controller is located on the NorthBridge - all they pretty much have to do in order to support DDR2 is change that.

Build date for HP Feb 22nd..... And from what it looks like from the other manufacturers thats about the time when most new notebooks will be available.

I really don't get it. They release all those nifty new notebooks and 6 month later when Merom hits the market they have to release new notebooks again. For some reason that doesn't sound very profitable....

Why does it take them all so long? Is Intel not shipping the CPU's? But it seems Europe and Asia already get new notebooks.....I am just confused.

I know this has been discussed somewhere, but I cant find it. Will the performance difference between Yonah and Merom really be that large? I know its 64 bit vs 32 and so on, but honestly the performance difference between a Turion and a Centrino Notebook are not really noticeable. I would even go so far and say slightly in favor of the centrino at same CPU speed. Does it all boil down to the software?

From what I heard, it shouldn't be difficult for manufacturers to go to the Merom processor from the Core Duo - pretty much all you need is a BIOS upgrade.

So does that mean if you got a Yonah notebook, you could put the Merom core in it (obviously I know that there would have to be a BIOS upgrade)? Is the processor the only thing that is 64bit?

Yes - the Merom is slated to come out in Fall 2006.

Technically, you can upgrade the Yonah to the Merom, but I have a feeling it's going to be much more complicated ;)
