Okay folks, put this one under the "You've Gotta Be Kidding Me" category. A company called Hip-E has released a notebook, except they don't call it a notebook, it's a "Nodebook".I guess that cleverly means it's just another communication node in your life or something? Well, Teen Magazine says the Hip-E Nodebook is "digitally hip: this totally new designed-for-teens-by-teens computer is da bomb". Hey, I know what "da bomb" means, that means "good". Right?
It's the Hip-E Nodebook, for teens and by teens, if parents are smart they'll avoid buying this and hopefully most teens won't have the $1599 it takes to buy it (view larger image of ad)
According to Hip-E this notebook, I mean, nodebook is"a portable hip-e companion to the hip-e node. Teens are always on the go!! so why not give them a reason to go in style. The hip-e nodebook has many of the same cool features and functionality as the hip-e node. From the bedroom to the classroom to wherever, the nodebook keeps up with a teens lifestyle."
The thing that pains me the most is that they put a 1.6 GHz Pentium M in this thing, what a waste of a perfectly good processor. Please visit the site, watch the movie and read their marketing flyer pdf for the pure entertainment value:

no doubt, it is of course a laptop. no doubt, it is overpriced.
and it absolutely is some of the silliest marketing i've seen in quite some time. -

i have a custahmer inquiry. can i purchase the nodebook with either plastick or dawla bilz?
LOL... -
I saw an ad for this on the back of a CCS (skateboarding) catalog and thought I should at least check it out, since I'm in the market for a new machine (I'm tired of my 3 year old WinXP/Gentoo machine crashing on a daily basis), but I noticed that the site is more hype than specs, and I really had to dig for about 15 minutes before finding the information I was looking for. I think I'll stick with a Mac-- but the question is, will I notice the difference between the iBook and the PowerBook? I'm looking for a more media-oriented machine, but nothing too hardcore. Saving money is key, but if I'm gonna buy my first pre-built machine, I'd like it to be slammin'... if you know what I mean.
