AMD 4800 series mobile GPUs on the way
    [IMG]
AMD's next-generation ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4800 series graphics cards have been approved by the PCI SIG. The GPUs are coded M96 and M98-L. They will be the notebook equivalents of the RV770-based desktop graphics cards.

There is no word on a release date for the GPUs, but considering that the Mobility Radeon HD 3800 series was just released, it will probably be in Q4'08 at the earliest.

ASUS blames Intel for Eee PC holdups
    [IMG]

ASUS is blaming Intel for the lack of the Atom-based Eee PC on shelves of UK computer sellers. Windows XP models are available, but Linux ones are not. Suppliers say the Linux-based model will be available in late July.

All manufacturers are experiencing delays because Intel is having trouble supplying the Atom processors. ASUS says the first shipment of Eee PCs to the UK has been sold out. Intel needs to increase Atom processor shipments before supplies of Atom-based computerss increase.

Hmm, the X305 hasn't come up on Best Buy's website yet, looks like that Best Buy jumped the gun.

Hopefully this time ATI will kick some butt.....
I kinda suspected that the new FireGL V5700 in the new thinkpad will use the HD 3850 core.
And is that P7350 supposed to be the new CPU ?

Seems like Nvidia has to get that GTX 280 to the mobile platform soon. ATI is seriously pushing the notebook market now :)

The multi touch seems so unoriginal now.

Multi touch screen or multi touch pad?

I don't think there's any multi touch screen yet...

And Asus, we blame you for EEE PC's incompetent pricing, but you're not doing anything about it either?

Definitely multi-touch screen, just like Apple Iphone, multi-touch pad doesn't make any sense since we use mouse for faster navigation. Hopefully 4800M series will be out soon since the desktop versions are very good at price/performance aspect. 8800M GTX is way too expensive.

While it is cool, I don't think the touch screen is very efficient. With the mouse, depending on your settings you can cover an entire screen with very little movement.

Interesting. It seems if Ati deliver on the 4800 mobile graphics they will take the high end mobile graphics market.

The SSD's seems to decreasing in their prices
but not yet on par with regular HDDs
yeah tht multi-touch seems unorginal now as said above but still to me still holds the cool factor
maybe it can be applicable in more programs as programmers get innovative if you know what i mean

    ATIs made a comeback
Nvidia's awfully quiet.......makes me wonder if they got anything new up their sleeves

Speaking of ATI and Intel, how's Montevina's IGP doing compared to Puma's?

Check out the X200 review here. The X4500 got its ass handed to it, based on 3dmark06 anyway.

The HD3200 (Puma's integrated) gets about 1700 3dmark06. The X4500 (Montevina's) gets less than 950, with a faster processor to boot (which does slightly impact 3dmark scores). nVIDIA is still in the 500-some range. So ATI is definitely the way to go when it comes to integrated graphics.

Yeah HD3200 is a very good IGP solution until now, low-cost for playing fullHD movies makes HD3200 got the upper hand compare to dedicated Nvidia 8400GS. I still hope they'll integrate HD3200 along with 3800 or 4800 series in one notebook (rather than 3400-crap series) depend on battery or AC mode.

That will happen; that's what the hybrid crossfire is supposed to take advantage of.
