Looks like there's still no price available for that card.
According to Nvidia it has 320 CUDA cores (GTX 480M has 352). Depending on the clocks it might (and probably will) be slightly stronger than M7820.

But CUDA cores....yummm. I think it will be around 4xM7820. Maybe more. The 3800M is what, a $1500 upgrade? Super!

$667? That's not much at all. I was thinking over a grand.

Could you provide a link? I don't see this option available on the US HP website yet.

It's in the last line of the article that's in the first post.

"The EliteBook 8740ws with the Quadro FX 5000M starts at $2,676; the base 8740w starts at $1,999."

That article is a balognium. The base price is 2.778$ for an i-5 520M and FX2800M. And it costs 900$ to move from M7820 to FX3800M.

Wonder where they got their figures... maybe (hopefully) we'll see a price cut? :)

If it's really got 320 cores then it's not GF104 since you can't get that many cores with clusters of 48. A 320 core Quadro would likely be cut from GF100's 32 core clusters.

GF100's architecture is also better at GPGPU, making it more suited to be a workstation card than GF104.

Nvidia should be making huge profits on these cards by charging thier Quadro prices for GF100s so far under the scrappile that they couldnt even cut it as a GTX465 or 480m.

Those prices are probably pre-config models (base pre-config is $1,999). But even so, I find it hard to believe they are going to pre-config a model with i5 + FX5000M...the numbers sound fishy unless the 5000M is priced under the 3800M to compete better against M7820 (which I find highly unlikely).

It's interesting if this is true considering they claim the same 100W TDP as the GTX 480M and typically, workstation GPUs have higher TDP than their consumer counterparts.
