In the interest of getting to know you better we have a quick survey (just 13 questions) surrounding your use of anti-virus/security software and how you choose a processor. Consider it speed dating, NBR-style.
Anyway, we'd like to learn more about what you use for security software and how you came to make that decision. The same goes for processors. Do you choose a machine based on processor, or is it based on some other factor?
At the end of the survey, you can submit your email address for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. An email address will be picked randomly from all of the completed surveys.
We really appreciate your feedback!
UPDATE: We have closed the survey and gotten in touch with a winner. Thanks to everyone who responded to the survey!

Yeah, I know the questions were kind of random, but they're useful (or so I'm told).
-
1 or 2 CPU questions didn't make too much sense to me
maybe its just me hehe
-
Done it also, Hope I win!
-
I couldn't complete the survey because, for a few questions, none of the multiple choices apply.
For example, the most important factor that would encourage me to switch would be that the solution not bog down my computer. The second would be ease of use, but it was not given as an option. Another major issue is security holes in software, but it was not mentioned.
I suspect these omissions in the survey reflect the fact that security vendors misunderstand what customers want so badly they don't even know what questions to ask. -

Complete. Some boxes to add more would make it more complete, however I'm sure that would make the survey take forever for you to get through.
-
Just finished it as well. But I don't expect to win that gift card
-
Well I never win anything... and I don't expect to this time
Ah well, good luck to all!
-
The close survey button didn't work for me.
And i'm sure the are others like me who tried to do the survey more than once.
-
you should have kept this to yourself. now everyone will get a change to win.

I just did it, Yay!

the odds of wining tht gift card keep getting slimmer
but the heck
atleast i tried -
I was going to participate in the survey and give honest answers but I simply couldn't. For instance, I don't use any of the "security software" packages mentioned in the survey - for my everyday computing needs (www, IM, audio, video etc.) I use linux and only boot into windows for things that don't work in linux. That's when I want to play a game, fill my walkman with tunes (damn sonicstage... ) or update firmware in sony ericsson smartphone - roughly once a week or less for any of those activities. And since windows is completely off the net for almost all the time I didn't feel it's necessary to slow it down with antivirus/firewall/anti-spyware software.
Bottom line is, I think survey should be redesinged a bit to reflect market. I am perfectly aware that linux users consist of few percent (at most) of total pc users but there are also mac users out there and I don't think that either of them would be interested in purchasing/using norton antivirus (or any other for that matter).
Unless ofcourse this is a survey for windows users, but it wasn't stated clearly anywhere.
Just my two (euro)cents (; -
I participated and though there is little to none chance to be a winner, but at least I have tried
-
Yes, for the first question I didn't really have an answer as I don't particularly trust any of those companies.
Asking how I decide to purchase a particular processor isn't so black and white. 2 of the options were price only and performance only. Well.. I look at price and performance otherwise known as "bang for the buck". I'm not going to get the lowest end CPU with small L2 cache, but I'm not going to get the extreme processor either. -
ugh! No Avira Antivirus?

Thanks for posting this. Here's hoping that I won't be getting any spam in my email.
