Word on the virtual streets of the webis that Dell is about to release a few new Core Duo based Latitude notebooks, namely the D620, D420 and D820.

Certain members in the NotebookReview.com forums have reported having used these notebooks and report that the styling is like that of the currently available LatitudeD410 notebook:

Also, website Engadget.com is reporting that the release of the new Dell Latitudes will be tomorrow. Somebody on Wikipedia has even edited the term "Dell Latitude" description to include the D420, D620 and D820 notebooks and they're described as being Core Duo basedand as having widescreen aspect displays: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Latitude

So the run down of expected releases here are:

    • 12" widescreen Latitude D420
    • 14.1" widescreen Latitude D620
    • 15.4" widescreen Latitude D820

Please note, this is entirely rumored and a couple of months ago the site The Inquirer reported new Latitudes would be released in February, but obviously that date has come and gone without event: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28454

Eventually though, we know something will be released newin the Dell Latitude business line and we recommend stopping by here for a review!

As of the new editions... the D620 & D420 will both go widescreen, the budget D520 will be regular aspect.

Chazman, I took a look at engadget. You didnt mention they say a 17 inch Precision is on the way. There is no 17 inch Latitude/Precision at present, and up until now I didnt know one was coming.

Not necessarily, the new Latitudes will have a biometric fingerprint reader, WWAN integrated and other security features only found on the Latitudes.

The D820 will have a dedicated option most likely, and the D620 as well.

    D420, probably not.

According to weight specs, the new Latitude D820 and D620 will come in a BASE configuration with integrated graphics... I take it the dedicated graphics are upgrades. Guess Dell is doing this to keep the prices of the base models competitive.

Back to the new Latitudes, the new D420 is the only model not too asthetically pleasing as the screen has a thick bezel around it ala the Inspiron B120. No info about it's weight but it was listed in the presentation as "Ultra Light" just as the current X1 whereas the old D410 is listed as "Ultra Portable"... wonder if the weight will be around 2.5lbs like the X1 or 3.83lbs like the D410 or somewhere in between.
