Awefully pricey for a zacate system, $599.99.
Since when are atom competitors "premium" laptops?

If I read correctly this only has a 38WHr battery, what gives? I imagine a well equipped x120e will cost at least $550... it all comes down to which you prefer.

I dunno if that is really Sony tax as the X120 with the same options ticked only come in around $50 less.

Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
Hrm ... I wonder what kind of battery life the machine will give? Kinda strange to only include a 38whr battery if one of the selling points for the fusion chipset is battery life. (At least it is strange to me.)

You would think that they would at least give it a better battery when the know that HP is offering a system with similar specs and a bigger battery for $150 less. I feel sorry for anyone foolish enough to waste money on this.

BECAUSE IT LOOKS NICE. *Looks at MacbookPro fanboys*
J/K, but yeah Vaio's have typically been more expensive, haven't they?
I'm still waiting it see what ASUS offers. I was either going to get the dm1z, the Asus one with E-350 (hopefully it will actually be produced), or the x120e. I ended up getting none of these and instead got the ASUS ULVT30-X1 for $500, lol (lucky me!).
With these prices so far, HP's is still looking like the best. I wish there was somewhere for me to try it out to see if there are actual issues with the hard drive noise. I have a feeling that it's a minor thing that people are complaining about because I find that a lot of the time, people on these forums generally over exaggerate certain aspects of a notebook. I get scared, but once I use the notebook, everything is fine (for example keyboard flex on one notebook was exaggerated by being barely unbearable... really, c'mon now). -
Well I looked around today, and at this price I rather get the Asus UL20FT-XA1, which is $550 on Amazon. That is too bad Sony skimped on the battery, but not the price. I am used to their keyboards after all.

I want to say this has a better screen than the HP, not to mention the gpu is better than the UL20 while still offering a cpu not much worse according to the cnet test. And again the screen could be better as people tell me Sony is know for their screens.

The only Sony worthy IMO is the Z. Its a amazing ultraportable if price is no concern. -
One guy at Newegg wrote a review for this model. I honestly couldn't have said it better myself.

I guess Sony is trying to market it as a i3um alternative.

I like this new YB, because for me (and for a lot of people otherwise sony would simply go bankrupt) looks are an important factor aswell.
Also, yes it has 1 hour of battery hour less than the thinkpad x120e, but the thinkpad has a huge chunk of battery sticking out in the back (like the dell latitude models) which is something I don't like at all.
But 6 hours are bare minimum for my personal needs, which is something the lenovo delivers and it still looks very good despite the battery sticking out (especially the matte screen is a huge + factor).
I know i'll regret it if I let my eastethic choice prevail over my need for functionality. I could get an extended battery for the vaio YB for 200€ (the same which they use for the S and Y series) but then I get the same problem as with the levono: a battery sticking out in the back, and all that for a lot more money.
I think i'll need to read some reviews about basic build quality to make up my mind, but I think lenovo will win this one (both brands are decent anyway).
The HP dm1 gives a lot for a very nice price, but the looks are something with which I can not live. I know its irrational to pay 100-150€ more for a machine (wether its the levono or sony) only because it looks nice but if you have to look at and work with something everyday it may aswell look decent right?
And I've always been quite critical towards hp ever since I saw those squaretrade statistics, even though they are outdated and need a lot of 'buts' and 'ifs' in the explenation, they clearly showed a general quality difference in consumer portables.
Basicly I can only say that technology still doesn't give me what I want (we are getting closer every day though), which is 8+ hours of battery life in an 11-13" laptop/netbook without extended batteries, for a <500€ pricetag. I expected amd fusion to deliver the same battery life as the intel ulv cpu's, guess we'll have to wait a little while longer for that. -
