Toshiba Intros First Notebook with 512GB SSD
    [IMG]
Toshiba has introduced a notebook in Japan with a world first: a 512GB Solid State Disk (SSD). The Dynabook SS-RX2 is a 12.1-inch notebook with a claimed 12-hour battery life. It weighs less than 2.5 pounds and is less than one inch thick. Specifications include a Core 2 Duo Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processor running at 1.4GHz. The 512GB SSD has maximum read/write speeds of 230/180MB/s.
Unfortunately the Dynabook SS-RX2 is only available in Japan, and goes for a rather high $4,400 asking price.

Mmm...I thought this was announced a while back, maybe even when Toshiba announced the 512GB SSD they said SS-RX2 would be the first laptop to get it. Not a big fan of SS-RX2 or R500/600's screen, but it is quite impressive otherwise, and now this 512GB SSD would just make it even better I am sure.

Look forward to see some real benchmark of this new beast. On paper it is even better than Intel's X18/X25.

Sounds good...but waaaaayyyyyy over priced. ~$1,500 would seem like a much reasonable price.

Man SSDs are just too expensive to justify right now. I'll jump on one in a couple years when they're more mainstream.

The downside, of course, is that these SSD notebooks are expensive.

Does the Asus S121 with a 512GB SSD not count?
