I wonder if Toshiba has an Sli GTS 250M config up their sleeve...
-
Only a GTS 250M, not a GTX 260M or 280M? Unacceptable. It's not a gaming laptop then Toshiba. Its also much thinner than the previous X300 series where they couldn't fit in a more powerful GPU.
This is a multimedia laptop period, not a gaming laptop. -

Here are more pictures of the X500 for anyone interested: http://tinyurl.com/muhavh
Looks nice, but I personally am not interested in an 18.4-inch notebook . . . even if it can replace my desktop and monitor. 17-inch is end of the road for portability AFAIK. -
Over priced multimedia laptop... probably gonna be $3k for this boutique behemoth.
-
I have no qualms of carrying around an 18.4" notebook to replace my desktop, in fact I would like that. I like my laptops in extremes, from the very small to the very large. I find some charm in those 18.4" laptops.
However for that size, I would like it to be as close to a desktop in performance and expandability as possible. It pains me when this machine will cost at least twice as much as my desktop and is not nearly as future proof. I am just waiting for the day when we can connect desktop GPUs externally to a notebook and utilizing the full bandwidth.
And even later in the future, to be able to replace the motherboard whenever a new chipset and platform comes out. Then, bye bye desktops. I don't expect manufacturers like Toshiba to do this, but at least Clevo. -
alot of announcements these days lol.

Core i7 = fish frenzy.

Hm, DDR5 actually makes this one hella interesting.
and FINALLY!! It looks good. The X305 looks got stale quick.
It may be still be a decent multimedia notebook(Especially with toshibas awesome Harmon Kardon system) -
Given the size of the chassis and the history of sli in the X300 line, I think there's a good chance we'll be seeing more gaming oriented specifications... Sli GTS 260M makes sense, because the power requirement is significantly lower than the GTX 260/280Ms, but should perform within 10-20% of those.

Is it me or the laptop doesnt look that large besides the man?
EDIT: Minute 1;31 it is huge. I think it was a big man and a big laptop, but with small hands and a big laptop...lol -

The screen quality of this laptop looks pretty amazing.
Hopefully they nail that factor.
Also YES, it is huge lol. I like the media controls on the left. The lid also looks nice(In pictures) -
Will it really cost $3000? I think it sounds to much but it's a really good laptop indeed. I also like the design very much!

^^^^^^^^^^^^Where did you get that from?
im 100% sure that is NOT true. -
-
its certainly not for gaming..well..GTS250 on a 18"
much better rather than HP offers 9600GT on their HDX18 here... -
For twice the price.
-
What are you guys talking about?! Since when was the GTS 250M not a GPU built for gaming? -
Since when was any GPU not made for gaming?
Same as those HP Envy people claiming that its not a gaming laptop... well, I'd love to know why it needs an ATI 4830 in that case. Multimedia is a nice way of saying mid-level gaming in a high def screen. -
Well the GTS 250 (running with GDDR5 Ram) should do between 10k and 11k 3DMark06 Points.
So I guess it will do fine for Gaming especially as you can get it with 1600 x945 Resolution Display.
Rumors say it will cost under 1500 Euros. I can´t confirm that though. -

^^^They already benchmarked, 10,000 stock. Pretty good. Especially once over clocking and new drivers happen.
-
sorry...its a typo...i mean..not a gaming laptop
-
18.4 Inches and WUXGA, are you sure the GT250M is capable of fluid gaming with such a large screen?
-

It should be, considering in performance seems to be on par with the 9800 GT. Plus it uses like half the power and is much smaller in size.

The 250GTS is a pretty high end card, it's not as high as the 260GTX that Asus is using in the gaming notebooks, but the processor is much better. And in the benchmarks I've seen from either here or laptopmag.com (I think the latter) the processor really helped in graphics benchmarks.
I also agree with Tianxia, the standards for gaming on a laptop are not the same as a desktop.
Laptopmag.com reports this laptop at starting under $1500USD. -

it should, considering the price of the other Qosmio was between 1350 and 2500(Well there were more expensive models, but that doesn't correlate with this)
-

Price starts at $1450.
I like what i see. The $1800 model isnt bad, SSD, Blu ray writer/reader, and 6GB DDR3 Memory!

I also must say that Striker was the first one to find this -
I think that's a beautiful notebook. It's priced pretty well too.
-
