    How long until US availability?

I see they ARE Optimus enabled, but not the i7....now I'm not sure which one to get.

Well my computer is now outdated...I would like to get one of the newer ones but I need to get a desktop and I don't think I will upgrade until Intel brings out their new platform next year since the only game I play on it is L4D2. What sucks the most is that Alienware will probably quit worrying about upgrading video drivers on the now "old" model.

It will be interesting to see the new battery life numbers and the new benchmarks but I still stand by the statement that I would like to be in control of when the gpu switches and not the other way around. I'm not sold on things that take away the advantages that power users can utilize. I personally would like to maximize the battery life when needed and not have it change to the discrete at all (like on flash videos) and when plugged in I would prefer it to always be discrete.

I also doubt that the 32% faster applies to the su7300 overclocked in the M11x but some people have reported that these processors are also overclockable. If it is indeed 32% faster it is probably only that much quicker in benchmarks that are coded such that they can take advantage of the HT that probably would not make a difference in most games.

    Anyone want a deal on a m11x?

You don't have to worry about updating new drivers the new and "old" M11x use the same GPU.

They're all Optimus. The i7 is the same thing, and you can configure it right now. Probably some error on a website or configuration issue when they were putting this story up. With clock speeds this low, I'd definitely get the i7!

Anyway, with Optimus, this should finally be a viable system. CPUs are a bit more reasonable, and you should be able to use regular drivers now, which will make this a viable system. Still wish this had an optical drive though.

Actually for me I think a 14 or 13" system like this would be cool-boost the specs a bit and add a Blu Ray drive. The darned M15x is STILL defective since Dell refuses to fix the BIOS...

can anyone tell me if its really worth it to exchange my m11x r1 for an r2? im not sure if $300 is worth the upgrade especially if its not going to be a significant upgrade. im mostly worried about the long run. will the corei7 last me longer or will my su4100 be good enough for about 4 years.

$300 is a lot of money; no I would not exchange it.

It depends on what you do with the notebook; somehow I doubt the SU4100 will be good for gaming in four years but that is speculation on my part. Stick with it and see how long it lasts. Your M11x should give you a couple of good years.
Only the i5 and the i7 are available in the U.S. at the moment; the i3 is available overseas on Dell's Malaysia site.
